Oops,..

All I have to do is pull on the chain to lock my QL's
It's opening them that's always been a problem.

To be fair, both my pliers are just stamped metal and they're not hardened,..

One pair I made out of a crappy pair of C-clip pliers, and the other pair is a tiny four dollar piece of junk,..

The little pair is kinda Kool because it is nice and small, and two sets of QL's clip into the handle.

Good luck getting the KMC QL's off the handle though without a proper QL tool. 😂

The KMC opener tool is almost $35, and the Park Tool push-pull, all-in-one tool is $27 (it shows each hand wrapped around the handle)
You bought 5 pair of Chinese pliers for C$3.35? I spent $7.99 for a pair of Oumers, and they're plenty strong.
I bought two KMC Missing Links on a bubble card that says they're from KMC Headquarters in Taiwan. Does Beis Hypoutdoor sell Taiwan stuff? Maybe the KMC on yours stands for the Kung Mooshu Chicken company. ;)

The pliers and no-name links were from the same "store", so they had the same title.
The pliers were $3.91 and the five no-name 6-7-8 Speed links were $3.35

I bought a bunch of KMC links as well that came on a bubble card.
The KMC links were a lot more expensive,..

Yeah PC... You gotta get your missing links from Headquarters!

I was wondering about that.
Apparently Anything can be fake on AliExpress.

I bought my SR Suntour NCX seatpost on AliExpress then found out that there was all kinds of fakes on the market.

I found an article that showed how to tell if they're real,.. beveled edge on the end of the seatpost, clear printing on it, matte machining on the post, among other things.
Turned out that my post was real.

I bought my AION Forks on Amazon.
I hope they're real.
They cost a lot of money,..

All these photos have me all mixed up. I was looking at the one that says "Completed January 12, 2023." I thought "completed" meant "purchased." At 5 for $3.35 I wouldn't expect precision no matter what initials were stamped on them.

It reminds me of replacing the OE tires on my Abound. The rear one came off easily, but the front required such hard prying that I was afraid I'd damage the rim. The Schwalbe went on easily, like the one on the back, so the rim was the right size. The bead on the front OE tire was a little too small. Poor quality control.

Just checked my e8 chain.
Double official KMC Headquarters issue.
Ridiculously hard to use... Though no tools were harmed in the process.
Again thousands of miles on the much more user friendly knockoffs and that's what's on my bike now and have been for a while.

I did purchase a Shimano 10s Chain on Ali' that was clearly a fake on arrival and returned it without issue.

I opened and closed both of the fat tire bikes OEM q links with the q link pliers,
I had NO problems on either bike.
Opened the q link on the Old Blu (montague) bike, opened and closed about the same as the above bikes, I have only 10 miles on "Old Blu" since the q link being installed. I guess it just wasn't my day,
ymmv

My quick link pliers always worked to open the links, except for this last time.

I'm thinking that being scrapped over the derailleur tab kinda jammed/seized it shut extra tightly?
It was a new link as well, and they're always harder to open the first time.

Just break another link.

Yeah, I don't mind replacing the link. I've got a bunch of them.
And now I know that I can replace it on a ride if I have to.

I almost never pedal, but if I have to, that's probably when my chain will fail.
And it will probably be dark, and raining, then the rain changes to snow.
Then my battery dies and I get a flat tire.

That's the way things always happen. 😂

Pliers work pretty well. I've got a set of needle nose that are 12" long, Plenty of leverage, if I can find them. Then there's the channel locks or a small vise grips.

Not buying KMC pliers. I won't buy their links. I get them included with with new chains, I don't believe their hype about one time use on these links,

And if I'm out of links, I re-use an opened chain link, We're told not to do that either, but if you press them back together well, they don't bind.

Give a rat a furry tale and people think he's adorable. I shot and ate one in high school, but the amount of meat was disappointing. Similar experiences helped me in Biology. I'd finish a dissection in 5 minutes.
A neighbor in his 90s used to keep our squirrels under control. When there were too many in his apple trees, he'd kill half a dozen in a couple of minutes with his shotgun, right here in town. After he died, gray foxes protected us for a couple of years. I saw one go up a tree trunk faster than a squirrel. When we were again overrun, I used the Conibear and a high-voltage trap to kill 16 in a few weeks. I also got a couple of chipmunks, whose holes can damage foundations. We need predators!
adopt some nuetered cats,my guys keep the small critters in check, noticed my favorite silver tabby polishing off a pack rat while back,my good old orange tabby loved groundhogs and rabbits, the unfortunate part is a bird goes down the hatch ever so often. you do know squirrels are migratory? they move to where the food is,I devised a live catch for a "fairy diddle"( small red squirrel) finally caught and relocated the little nuisance, flying squirrels make good pets I am told.we used to store potato's and apples in the old home place house( near a farm and trashdump) after the food source was gone the rats largely disappeared.
