Bands I like. The Doors of course, Elton John, (if that's a rock band?), America, (remember them?), Steely Dan.
Honorable mention:
Joe Cocker.
Canned Heat.
Lou Reed.

I'm probably in the minority here, but two bands I really don't like are the Beatles and the Stones, the real early Beatles stuff that was influenced more by Paul is okay, but the later drug induce stuff, maybe influenced by Lennon really isn't my cup of tea.

You guys can talk about all those bands from long ago, but Dead and Company sold out 3 shows at the Hollywood Bowl in 3 minutes (Halloween). If they are playing near you, check them out. They are a great time.

great music doesn't age. The Beatles and Black Sabbath were well before my time, but they're amazing and people are still talking about them 50 years later for a reason.

But seriously, we can all just short circuit any future conversation and unilaterally declare the Bare Naked Ladies the Greatest Rock Band in the World can't we?

not sure about the band, but I´m a big fan of naked ladies.

I think the list start with the Beatles and the Stones. Then it's up for grabs with so many others to consider. For me it may be REM and Led Zepplin but I could probably come up with 10 more that are in that group.
