No Bafang Ultra on Luna's website ?

We were just curious as to why they stopped carrying the ultra and whether Luna's explanation can shed some light into whether there is some specific reason around the motor itself since Wattwagons bikes uses the ultra.

Did you also ask on the R&M forum why Haibike is switching from Bosch to TQ motors for some of their bikes? After all, R&M bikes uses Bosch.

It is a related topic, they touted their ultra as being tuned and the best for their bike and they were selling them separately as well.
If they are switching after all this time I would really like to know to which motor and why, I feel this does relate to Watt Wagons because this is the second point slagging the ultra and we need to know why.
I am not convinced.....yet.

Good question.
It looks like the Ultra kit is only going to be available for fat bikes sometime in May:

Dawn breaks over marble head, I get it.🧐
U wuz "doing support for Luna" then became a disgruntled hex employee.

Bafang doesn’t sell cables. They have never liked customers programming . Now, as I understand, their BESST device is necessary for newest mid drives.
I was doing support for Luna when it happened. Laptop worked until cable was plugged in. Cable was returned and indeed the wiring was reversed. Damage wasn’t covered by the seller. I had no reason to doubt the fellow, but I certainly do not have your experience and computer skills.

I'm not posting about cables or Luna and this may not be relevant but I much prefer my BBSHD powered bike over any Ultra powered bike I've ridden. My Biktrix Juggernaut BBSHD is a torque monster and tuned to perfection. I've found my Ultra a disapointment in comparison.

Interesting... I ordered an Archon controller Ultra from Wattwagon to go into a Luna Apollo. I will start a thread about it and why when it arrives.
Would love to hear of your thoughts on the differences you detect between the stock and Archon controllers.

Unfortunately I only had ridden the stock/ludicrous controller about 20 miles before I shorted it trying to install a FisherFabhouse light with a tap off of the discharge. I am going to try to fix it but in the 20 miles I was already disappointed with the responsiveness/lag of the assist. I did not have an ISIS crank puller to get at the stock controller but one is coming today. Then I can pull the stock/ludicrous controller but my assumption is that it is fried because the motor will not run off the charger and I don't think it is the throttle because I tried jumping the HIGO pins to test.

Likely off topic but what are the controller wiring differences between the BBSHD and the Ultra? Are the hall effects the same etc.. because I was also looking at adapting a Phaserunner and Cycle Analyst 3 and then we could compare those two. I just was not going to pay for a replacement controller that I did not like anyway when I came upon the Archon.

Addendum: @Feliz I am an ageing motorcycle guy too :) I have a Zero DSR but it handles like a turd and the feedback is all wrong.

Was it a Biktrix with the Ultra ? Because I find Roshan's tuning to be excellent.

Wow ,
A stinky Zero;
Apollo ~$5K + ?
For a glorified flashlight.
Be careful, are you making your own luck?

Not sure what your point is but I will take a stab at a response. I am single; yes I laugh at myself and the last I checked it was my money. As for the flashlight, I am a 7 degrees further north than you and for 3 months of the year I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark, often in the rain. Forgive me for wanting to be safe?

No, my Biktrix Juggernaut has the BBSHD and the tuning is impeccable. I agree on Roshan's tuning.
So powerful it damaged some full-suspension bikes. On a flat foot, crank forward bikes it accommodates oldsters and we can have speeds more than safe. If only Bafang would be forthcoming regarding design changes and firmware... seems hopeless. Giving a leg up to the Luna tics.
