Newbees to electric trikes.

Due to disabilities, we would like to add electric power to two Sun recumbent trikes EZ 3 models. We would prefer to know what another owner has done to the recumbent that works for them. We don't need speed but do need control and safety. Not looking for speed. We have heard the ft wheel size of the trike limits the use of the wheel motor as it is 16 inch and narrow forks. We have designed and built autos and trucks during our work years so we are DIY. Thank you!

My ignorance of what is out there that will work with the two Sun recumbents is telling me that kits run $400 to $1000+
We want to buy good quality parts that work on our trikes. We don't need racing parts or extras that purest will want. Safe reliable assist for running around the flat neighborhood. We don't want an adventure in rigging or trying to see what works. If there is no one that has a Sun recumbent like ours we will move on. Thanks

The decision you’ll need to research is in relation to control. Do you want a throttle, cadence sensor on the pedals, or torque sensor on the pedals. Or do you even want to pedal at all. Then if you want a hub motor or mid drive. Finally, range you want. Do a search on YouTube, looks like several videos on your trike conversion there.
