I just noticed an IGH Belt Drive version of the Turbo Vado 5.0 on Specialized website .
I think it's using the same drive and hub as Serial 1 CTY/Speed .

Probably a heavy e-bike now. Como SL equipped with the same is the heaviest of the "superlightweight" Spec e-bikes, weighing not much less than its full power, derailleur based counterpart.

Looks like agreat bike. But Specialized lists everything except ....
....
....
The weight.

Art, when I learn that version of Vado appeared in Warsaw, I'll ask the salesman to weigh it for me.
It looks a heavy monster by just looking at the photo!

(And that weird stem again!)

We could probably figure it out by checking the weights of individual components, but really...
Specialized knows that people want to know the weight. List it along with all the other specs.

Ask Trek then Giant then Cannondale to do the same :)

Besides, my Vado SL has its weight given on a frame label. Then I weighed the e-bike (after I added things like a double set of grips, mirror, etc etc) and it turned out to be significantly heavier... :D Aha, my Vado 5.0 has its weight given on a label, too. Perhaps it was the weight when it was new...

Yeah there's an old thread on here somewhere about what does your bike weigh as you actually ride it. @fooferdoggie was scary with his commuter plus tools, water, raingear .
And the tandem ... forgetaboutit as New Yorkers say.

if you look at other similar bikes, the difference between the derailleur models and enviolo automatiq models is around 2lb / 1kg. i don’t think anyone has weighed a 2022 vado yet, i see a review which states a “claimed weight” range of 55-63 lb. i definitely won’t be regularly lifting that up to hang it on the bike racks at work 😂😂

other than that rather large caveat, i’d totally replace my city / kid hauling bike with one of these!!

also note the slick integration of the radar:

Looks like a copy of Ravi's Zen Shakti and who wants to guess how much more it is going to cost?

No need to guess: it’s $5500. Also, the Vado is mid drive while the Shakti is hub drive; so apples to oranges. Both have their place in the market.

I guess I was confused about the name as isn't Ravi doing a Bosch Mid Drive? I lose track....

uh, except for being a mid-drive, with an IGH, and not having a rats nest of cables up front?!? i fail to see the resemblance other than both having two wheels and a shock up front!

You're thinking the Samurai (base version), which is indeed more value for money than the Vado, though its Enviolo is the non-automatic version.

Perhaps you have missed the Vado 3.0 IGH for US$3,750, manual IGH. (Suddenly, Ravi's Samurai is not that much competitive).

Having choices is great, though again the comparison isn't exact: Vado 3.0 IGH has the CITY Enviolo (310%, 55Nm) and 50Nm Brose motor while the Samurai base has the HEAVY DUTY Enviolo (380%, 100Nm) and 85Nm Bosch motor.
