New to forum. Wing Freedom ebike

Hello bike enthusiast with various other bikes like a Ti road bike and full suspension mtn bike with 6" travel. I'm older now and not in fantastic shape, neither is wife so we bought a Ebike we can both use. Wing Freedom which I got a early bird price, mid level 10.4 36v battery. Motor is 350 watt hub.

Anyway, beside the rough ride (looking at heavier duty suspension forks) the cable disk brakes are insufficient for a bike capable of decent speed. I'm looking to upgrade to hydraulic. Hello folks!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Wing Freedom that is a nice looking ride.

You`re right about the hydraulic brakes being more powerful and since my bike came with Tektro Auriga hydraulic brakes I have not looked at replacing them, i`m sure there will be others arguing that the cable ones are just as good and work perfectly fine.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should choose whatever system works for them.

Thanks, I'm probably going to replace brakes as a safety issue. I have another bike a full suspension 29r mtn bike that we upgraded to Shimano XT hydraulic a couple years ago and those are amazing, one finger braking and you have to get used to it so much power. The cable brakes are wearing pads fast and at least the pads used don't do much stopping. Thanks for mention of your brakes will look at all options.

@Dirkdaddy Welcome to the forum! I suspect if trail riding is your ultimate goal, a 48v 750w or 52v 1000w mid-drive system will be your ultimate e-Bike destination. In the mean time go easy on your 350w system and yes go for the hydraulic brake upgrade - wish they were standard on every bike.

Lots of older folks are getting into e-Bikes for the same reasons you (we) did. Recommend checking out this report North American Survey of Electric Bicycle Owners March 2018 on the people for bikes org site the PDF file is here. or put it in a search engine.

Thanks for note. Actually this isn't' for trail riding, it would be a horrible choice for it with ridgid frame and city geometry. this is a commuter / errand / city bike setup. Also the bigger wattage bikes are getting quickly all ebikes banned on off road trails. Although the effort is sizable I'm trying to get my fitness up to riding these w/o e assist on my mtn bike. This bike is mainly for my wife to ride to work about 10 miles each way something it can handle easily and gives her a workout. A larger wattage setup would be too easy and not enough workout LOL, she's trying to lose weight and increase fitness. This bike we can be fine on level 2 so I doubt more is really needed, but I understand the trend to 48v and bigger motors. For the $1300 odd bucks delivered it was a good deal and does what we need...brakes not withstanding!
