So happy to find this forum to assist my entry into the ebike arena. Im 61 and have has several hip surgeries but I still want to get out and trail ride with the wife. We live in southeast Alabama and have access to some nice trails as well as the beach area in Florida. Thanks in advance for all the help as I start to shop for my first ebike!

Hi Bruce

Do you have an idea of what bike interests you? Visit your local bike shop to see what is available and possibly test ride one. Post a list of what you find.

Cheers,
Ray

Welcome to EBR. You probably have year round riding weather, at least morning and evening when it's cooler. Since you mentioned trails and beaches, I will mention that tires for sand, and tires for pavement are quite different, and compromise may be necessary there. Happy hunting.

Best of luck in your search!

Welcome to the site BRArcher, nice to have you. You could not have picked a better sport than e-biking. Many e-bikers have various ailments and disabilities and riding gets them on the road to recovery. Just remember to ride safe and responsibly. Make sure that you test ride before your purchase and talk with the people at your local bike shop. They would be your best source. Best of luck to you.

I'm older than you and have had a hip replaced. I bought a Lectric XP folding fat tire bike about a year ago to use mostly with our RV and I really like it. I added a more comfy seat and a suspension seat post plus a few other goodies - Mirror, water bottle holder, etc and I'm still not out $1K. If you're at all unsure how much use a new eBike will get, the Lectric XP is a great starter bike and may end up being all you need. It works for me and I've found no reason to replace it with anything . . . . more expensive - I was gonna say better, but not all more expensive bikes are better ;)
