New in-tube battery for EU market Townie Go! 7D EQ model

The current US market Electra Townie Go! 7D uses a 250w hub motor and a 309wh rack battery branded Hydrive. For 2022 the EU market Electra Townie Go! 7D EQ model will use a 250w hub motor and different 250wh downtube battery branded Hyena. Presumably this is a rebranding for the updated system from the same Taiwanese manufacturer and may make its way to the US market in due course. As the entry level Electra model the Townie Go! 7D is currently Trek’s lowest priced and best selling ebike in the US.

Good prediction - just got an email from Electra about this new Townie Go! 7D model for the US. It’s priced at $1749.99. They refer to the rear hub motor and integrated battery as “the Electra E-Bike System”:

It’s also available in a step-over version and a single-speed cruiser. They’re all pretty bare-bones, though - no lights, no fenders, no lock, no rack. At least they have disc brakes.

Sigh, Giant also did this last year when they decontented the Giant LaFree E+ and rebranded it as a Momentum model - they deleted the ebike lights and the Nexus 8 IGH option.

A friend of mine is very interested in this bike. Does anyone know how much it weighs? I wonder if it's still 50 lbs like the previous version.

Our LBS has a couple of these in stock, so we're going to do a test ride this weekend.
