Sorry but the Kiox is not even somewhat close to the Nyon in functionality.

I would have to agree with that statement. I am curious though if the Kiox can (potentially?) pull and display the GPS functions from the smartphone ... sort of like Android Auto and Apple Car Play do on the car infotainment systems.

I'd rather manufacturers didn't add displays at all. All I want from the bike is to show me the battery status which is already done on the batteries (Bosch) anyway. I don't need speed readouts, I can feel battery modes intuitively, and mapping is so inferior to a proper mapping app I don't even bother anymore.

Plus a color display is distracting and being removable, you need to unclip it and take it with you when you leave the bike somewhere.

Specialized does it best.

@Dmitri I get what your preferences are. Mine are different and there are many others that differ from both of us. Rather than urging manufacturers to accommodate your preferences and not those of others is the wrong path. Let manufacturers decide who their customers are and accommodate as many or as few of them that they choose. Then the customers can choose which bike maker offers the features and options that they want

In the Bosch world that means for displays there are the minimal Purion, the easier to use but larger Intuvia, the larger yet,more colorful and robustly capable Nyon and then the Cobi.

Specialized decided they want to make the fact of electrical assist more discrete and opts for no display at all. I ride an ebike and am not ashamed of it. So I don't care if there is an extra protrusion on my bike (obvious battery). I like the shorter, fatter form factor as it is easy to carry a spare in a trunk bag, aesthetics be damned.

I wouldn't ask Bosch to not make power tubes because I don't like them. I know that many others strongly prefer that. I just hope they keep making the older style battery.

My 2cents- I thought COBI was cool when first introduced, however, I think I would opt for the Intuvia or Nyon interfaces. I found the Purions to be a bit on the sticky side when doing PAS selection. Color screen is cool, but not required. The new Yamaha PWX interface is cool. I really like the indicator bar located directly above the screen so you can see what PAS level mode you are in at a glance. Mickey at Blue Monkey does a nice job explaining the functionality of that unit.
