Neighborhood excitement

We’ve had a repeat prowler in our neighborhood recently. Last evening, he was chased from a home on my street, and was run down on his bike by the targeted homeowner. This after repeated calls to the police with no response. Apparently, they will come out and transport the criminals if you do the hard part for them.

Turns out he’s been diagnosed as extremely psychotic, is a meth-head (and was in possession of meth at the time this occurred, though possession is legal here!!), and has multiple prior felonies for assault, burglary and arson. He was booked last night and police said he will be released today. I don’t think this is going to end well. Oh, and sadly, his bike was badly bent in the collision.

WHaaattt? They didn't arrest and charge the homeowners? They're out of touch with the times. ⚖️
Yeah, the police had him checked by paramedics before transporting him. I’m sure that if he’d been injured beyond a few bruises, it wouldn’t have gone well for my neighbor. Hitting him with a truck was a bit aggressive of him, but I’ll admit I’m glad he did it. The guy had been terrorizing the neighborhood for several nights. This time he was dressed entirely in black, unlike the other incursions, so it seems there was some level of planning involved, but he forgot to wait until nightfall.

I have a modified cattle prod for incidents like this! It's horrible that criminals can sue someone for trying to stop them. And I don't buy he has psychological problems, especially if he's willfully adding drugs in the mix. Your 'hood is much more tolerant then mine. He would have gotten shot and no one would have called the police. I've seen it happen in person. Sad but true.

Where do you live where possession is legal?

Where do you live where possession is legal?
I think Oregon decriminalized small amounts (some semantics in regards to the concept of legality).
Portugal has that too and here in Canada, British Columbia either just did - or will be soon.

He definitely is psychotic. Drug-induced, no doubt. Don’t worry, I’m not giving any of those a-holes a pass, or any sympathy. Shoot him? Yes, if he was a threat to life or physical welfare, or entered my home, but no thanks otherwise.

I should clarify; Technically, it’s still illegal. However, a court ruled that the felony possession law was invalid because even if a guy had drugs in his possession, it would be necessary to prove the drugs actually belonged to them. That’s some kinda f’d up logic, but that’s our new world order. It’s been some time (6 months, a year?), and the legislature hasn’t done anything about rewriting the law yet. So, in most cases they can only be charged with misdemeanor possession. Apparently, THAT law was better-written. Problem is most misdemeanors are ignored these days, and if they are arrested they’re out by the next day in most cases anyway. Washington State.

When we were teenagers to young adults we hired a hit-kid to do our dirty work. Here's how it started. My friend and I were hanging out at our local bmx site and this sassy younger kid shows up running his mouth. We tell him to shut up or we'll slap his lips off and he says "Touch me and I'll call the cops!". So, we called a friends little brother, called him B, and hired him to do a hit. So for $20, B borrowed his older brothers moped and sped off to the hit scene. B pulls up and asked who's getting "it". We point out the kid. B grabs him, gives him a wedgie and drags him all over the ground by his shockingly strong undies! B eventually rips them off his body and the kid is crying, exhausted from trying to fight back. B waves the undies like a victory flag, tosses them in a tree and gets on the moped and leaves. Best $20 we ever spent!

My dad had problems with another guy and hired B to punch the guy in the face. For $20 B ran up to the guy while he was raking his yard and laid him out! We watched from down the road in the family car with binoculars. My dad gave B and extra $20 because we saw blood!

I had a local annoying kid in my current 'hood a few years ago. I hired a mean kid from another 'hood to beat on the annoying kid. After the annoying kid got a good random beating he mysteriously calmed down. I highly suspect the same therapy will work for your trouble making prowling bum. Sometimes violence is the answer, and it only cost around $20-$50 to administer it.

Dude, I believe in self-defense, but not violent attacks upon innocent individuals whom you’ve deemed to be annoying. What you’ve described are criminal acts.

Of course, I think it’s all bullshit (the only thing missing is a reference to Corn Pop), and you’re just trolling anyway. I’ll politely ask; Please, don’t sully this thread any further.

No different than hitting the guy with a truck. But, let me clarify my stance then. Ignore my above post. Bums are not like bears. They don't come back for easy pickings. They move on to easier targets. So, next time the guy us hanging around offer him some water, perhaps food, and let him know you're watching him. Be firm in your words and let him know his actions arent welcome! I'm sure he'll just move on to an easier neighborhood to spread his good vibes, knowing the consequences in your neighborhood is a stern talking to!

Now that’s more like it….a good dose of sarcasm instead of bullshit.

I’m not the guy who hit him. But, you’ve read me wrong if you think I’m suggesting I’d deal with him in a manner he’d enjoy. I’m just not interested in using force beyond what is necessary, and no force was really necessary, because we knew approximately where he lived and figured it out precisely by the next day. One of our neighbors is an attorney, and is already working with his landlord pro-bono on the eviction process. If he wants to be a drug-addled asshole, we’ll be happy to help him complete his move toward life on the street and total self-destruction.

By the way, he is still in jail. Turns out the judge denied bail at arraignment (yea for a sane judge). In the past year, he’s had multiple charges, failed to appear in court twice, and violated home confinement twice, so hopefully the judge will be tired of dealing with him, and he’ll either remain jailed or be committed to a mental institution.

Now in all seriousness, has anyone from your neighborhood went to the courts and filed any restraining orders against him? Or went to the courts on his hearing day to voice your opinion on his behavior? The state in general doesn't wanna waist time or resources on crazy people. My state closed the insane prison and put them all in with the worst of the worst inmates. My wife has some crazy stories about that transfer!

We have a family member who's on the bad drugs. I don't see him ever getting clean either. I like "him" as a person but hate his demons. Don't trust him as far as I can kick him. So I know what the bad drugs do to people. So anyways, good luck on riding your neighborhood of this person. Be diligent and don't assume someone else is doing all the work. The more people that raise their voice the better.

We had a meeting the night he was arrested, and I suggested that a restraining order be sought by the homeowners who were targeted. The resident attorney offered to assist, but those homeowners wouldn’t bite. Hopefully they can still be convinced.

There hasn’t yet been an opportunity to go to a hearing, but that’s a good suggestion, should the opportunity arise. He has a competency hearing scheduled in two weeks. I’ve never been involved in this type of situation before, but I doubt we’d have an opportunity to be heard at that type of proceeding. I also doubt I’d have any standing, since I wasn’t directly involved. Maybe the neighbors though.

So you beat up on a younger kid and didn't even do it yourselves? What rank bully cowards! And you brag and laugh about it? Pathetic.

Yes, I did a lot of sketchy things when I was younger. A LOT. I think the whole thing started when I found a book called Getting Even. And not really brag but it was done and there's no turning back.

you (an adult) paid someone to assault a child? i get that we’ve all made mistakes, but……. there are boundaries.

Okay, lets get real here for a minute. Everyone does something that's wrong, they may even regret it. Or not lose any sleep over what they've done. Before passing judgment on me what have you done that was messed up? And I'm not talking about yelling at a neighbor or cutting someone off. Something that cost your opponent pain or financial loss? Something that you should have just walked away from but you didn't?

I try to make up for crappy things I've done. I help out a bike charity for low income people. I don't judge anyone by income or race, our planet has to much of that as it is. I donate to my local animal shelters. I'm not rich by any stretch but help out others when needed. Now keep in mind I don't believe in karma or any of that voodoo stuff. But I still have a hard time walking away if I feel I've been slighted. So, share your "bad guy" moments.
