Motor upgrade.

Hi guys just wondering is it possible to upgrade my 500watt hub motor to a 750 watt on my Pedego Ridge Rider ? would love some feedback on this ? What would be involved in such a project ? Thanks
 
You need to research the system that you have now, and compare it to any 750w systems that are out there.

Your motor is being used in conjunction with the electrical wiring, controller, battery, throttle, etc. All those components have to be just the right type to work together.

I don't know whether you can just switch the motor, but if you find the components are incompatible, then you can always strip everything off the bike and start fresh. The new wiring won't be inside the tubing, but that's just looks..

Pedego sells complete bikes, doubt they'll sell just a system.

I am out of my depth as to recommending systems. A hub motor will likely be the easiest way to go. Maybe @George S. can be of assistance.
 
The controller sets the amperage, limits it, so a controller upgrade might get you 100-200 watts. It's risky (hard on the motor) and 200 watts is not that much. The odds are the motor already runs around 750 watts, anyway, just because the ratings are worthless. A big company like Pedego is not going to risk a motor and controller way over 750 watts, and 1200 would be a noticeable bump.

The way to go is to build, since most builds are 1000 watts and up. Why mess up a nice bike, and that's a premium motor with a well integrated torque sensor PAS. Most people want more speed, but the regulations are not set up for it. If you feel you want 1500 watts, you are saying you want some kind of light motorcycle. I hope this will start to develop. I would be happy to keep my ebikes and have a 5,000 watt light motorcycle.

Ok, so to translate, George says sell the Pedego, start from scratch with a 1000w+ motor. But, then you are getting into illegal territory. Lots of people are doing it, so your choice.
