Motor Replacement

Does anyone know if the generation four Bosch motor is the same physical size as the earlier generations? I have a Townie commute go (2019 I believe) and like what I read about the generation four, wondering if motor could be replaced. If so, anyone know if Bosch sells just a motor? Thanks!

It's 25% smaller.

No. The frame on the Townie was designed for Gen 2 motors (the one you have currently) and the mounting system is very different on the Gen 4.
Unfortunately, it would be next to impossible to do the upgrade for both technical and liability reasons.

It is like asking if Apple would replace the A10 microprocessor chip with the new A14 chip on your phone? would they sell you a new microprocessor?


I understand your frustration but it is part of experience of owning a high-tech piece that is rapidly evolving. Phones, laptops, E-bike stuff change so fast! and that is the reality.
