Looking for tips for transporting laptop

Ortlieb makes two styles of a commuter bag that would be perfect for carrying a laptop, the urban model and office bag. Though I never carry my laptop on my rides, the bags serve as daytripping panniers just fine, too. They also make a sleeve to carry your laptop. I use a racktime workit rear pannier bag. It has a rain cover built in, clips in place on a rear rack, is well organized and hold my laptiop securely. I did get a zipped neoprene cover for some extra padding. Unfortunately this bag has been discontinued. I found mine used but in great condition on ebay for $50.

I carry my dell boat anchor 21 miles round trip daily over lots of city curbs and bumps in a backpack which is then carried in the left side ortlieb panniers without issues. the other side contains my lunch and packages I deliver daily to USPS on my way to work. I use the mesh bungee cords to prevent the paniers from wobbling on the many curbs.
