Hi folks!

As you may (or may not) have heard, we recently moved EBR to a new server and have been hard at work on performance improvements. Things have stabilized somewhat, so I'd love to hear feedback from everyone on how the site is performing.

Over the last weekend (5/18-19) things were pretty bumpy, but since then, how are we doing?
If you've been having any problems, including but not limited to: slow load times, receiving error messages, trouble navigating site features, not receiving emails/notifications, please let me know! You can comment here, or send me a private message. Please include details regarding which site page(s) are problematic and what type of device you are using. Thanks in advance!

My problems aren’t “Bad” as such but just annoying whilst using my iPad
1. Once a forum post has been read and you return to the main forum page the post which you just read is still in bold font indicating it is unread
2. When you “Mark forums read” it takes too long to refresh

Thank you! Question, after reading a post and then returning to the main page, do you use the Back button to get there?

I use an iPad, my inserted links didn’t work at first, now they do. Thank! As for using a back button for going to the main screen, I use the swipe right function.

I've heard similar stuff regarding the links from a few folks now, so seems like there was something funky going on there that has resolved itself. Phew!

When swiping right to go back, the last page is loaded from cache (instead of loading it fresh) which is why the title stays bold as if it was unread. The same will be true if you click the “back” button in Chrome/Safari/Firefox/etc.

There will be a link at the top of the page to go back to the last section, I’ve attached a screenshot with an example. Clicking on that will take you back and properly show that the post is read.

Of course, ideally this should work whether you click the back link or use the swipe function. Using the swipe function is also a heck of a lot easier than scrolling back to the top of the page! I’m not sure how to implement this yet, but I know it’s possible as I’ve seen other sites that do this (google search for one). I’ll look into it some more :)

link still not working.. :(
Do you mean the link that you just posted (the Amego one)? If you would please try clicking it again, it seems they start working after a minute or two.

I'm still looking into what is causing them to not work at first.

Okay, I think I have it fixed now. I'm posting a link to test: check out this link!

EDIT: Looks like it's working on my hotspot connection, but still borked when I connect to WiFi at my current location. This should be fully resolved by the end of today, I'll monitor and make sure.

For those interested, we were missing a CNAME record for a tool that handles external links. I added the new record, but such DNS changes can sometimes take several hours to propagate around the interwebs.
