Looking for a new e-bike - need suggestions

I have a RAD City Step-thru, (750 watt, 48 volt, 14aH), and a Electra Townie (400watt, 11 aH) I like them both but not thrilled with either of them. Rad has too much power in level 1 so I get no exercise, and the Townie is a slog getting up steep hills. Trying to find the "perfect" bike. Well, I know there is no such thing as a perfect bike, but am still searching for something that I can say I LOVE. Am in Canada, so need something available HERE. Need to have a step-thru, and I want to have a throttle. Can anyone suggest a bike that might meet my requirements? Thanks!

The Scoozy Step thru Veego 750 has 9 levels of asist for Smaller increments of asist, maybe look at those ? ? Ridescoozy.com

What is Trek Townie? I searched on Google and nothing came up.
It’s actually Electra Townie Go. Electra is now owned by Trek, but they advertise and operate as a separate brand.
Electra isn’t just a step through- they are designed so that you can pedal properly but still place your feet down when you stop.

Why do you want a throttle? What part of Canada ? Do you need a step thru or will a low step work? Consider R+M Nevo,Culture or Homage.

okay, does it have cadence sensor? Interestingly, they don't show on the spec sheet so I am not certain, but my guess is it does come with cadence sensor, not torque sensor.

I personally prefer cadence sensor (mainly because I'm lazy, lol.. I also prefer the zippy feeling of cadence sensor) but yeah sounds like you need a torque sensor to give you exercises and a powerful bike for uphill.

Have you considered Stromer ST1X?
Here's one from Canadian dealer.

Thank you, but too expensive, as I have to have 2 e-bikes, one in Canada and one in the U.S. Don't want to have $15,000 tied up in bikes. Looking for something $3500.or less.

Elby have good reputation.
The 500W BionX motor will give you good push on the hill but still give you exercise because of cadence sensor.
Comes with the throttle too.
I can't remember for sure, but it might comes with regen brakes so you can recharge the battery while braking.

However I'm a bit worried about the BionX components because I thought they're bankrupt?
Thank you! Cool looking bike and great price! But it does look like Bionx went out of business, so wouldn't want to buy a bike with Bionx parts.

Elby, comfortable, powerful, designed and sold by a Canadian company with headquarters in Ottawa. Will deliver one to your door ready to ride. Great bike. Sold many of them to very happy customers.

While Bionx is no more, Elby and other partners have ensured that the Bionx tech will survive for the foreseeable future.

Elby bikes have regeneration and multiple levels of it. Also, with a simple configuration change it can be turned into a 28 mph speed pedelec. Only step thru I know of with no frame flex. This is a very well thought out ebike.

My mechanics worked on everything from Stromer to Faraday. They thought the build quality of the Elby was the best. If I did not lean towards illegal ebikes, the Elby would be my go to bike.

yeah looks like they were at the 2018 bike show too.

Elby customer support may have the answer.

Elby has reorganized under a new investment group and secured a strategic partnership with newly restructured BionX’s ebike powertrain business in order to continue expanding Elby’s distribution, develop new products, and deliver support to customers and retailers. http://www.elbybike.com/elby-announces-new-business-structure-name-and-ownership/

Thanks Timpo! I have spent several hours online, reading all about Elby and watching youtube videos. This seems like a great bike!!! I have already filled out the form to have one brought to me for a test ride! I love how the motor is hidden. It's a great looking bike and $3,300., right in my price range. I really appreciate your advice! (I posted a link above that deals with the Bionx issue.). It has 4 levels of assist and 4 levels of regen.

$3,300? Where are you buying one from? Because it's $2,899 Canadian on Amego website that I posted.
Timpo, I did not see that link, will go look for it. - - - - - - Ok, I just saw it, thanks so much for that link!!!! But I can't buy a bike without taking it for a ride first. If I order through the Elby site, they will bring me a bike to try. On the Amigo website, they say there is a 30 day return policy, but on UNUSED bikes! So what good is that? You need to take it for a ride before you know if you like it or not. I guess I could have Elby bring me a bike, and then if I like it, I could buy it off the Amigo site, but I would feel guilty for doing that.

That one statement is not enough for me to feel comfortable buying one. I need to read proof that they are once aigna a solid company. Why is there no information on them available???
