Lectric XP Battery Question

So it is impossible to buy a second battery for the XP so I did around about and bought a light portable generator to carry with me and charge the battery if needed on those long trips. The question I have is can I keep the battery plugged in when I am riding and will it charge the bike battery until it runs out of juice? This would be like having a second battery.

Here is the battery I purchased it is under 4lbs. lighter than carrying around a second battery and a lot cheaper. If it works I may buy another generator.

I got two of these GoPower Plus 45000mah clearance deal from wally world currently at $30 each also about 4lbs. when I found out they used (18) 18650 lithium batteries. Planning to use for similar. I'll be adding a solar panel to my bike trailer and rotate between the two. I can't answer your question about charging while riding because my XP isn't here yet. The 15v solar input accepts barrel connectors from solar panels and charges the batteries without any adapters, inverters, or charge controllers as all that stuff is built in to these little battery banks. I suspect the primary downsides are the 100watt output max and maybe overheating/shut offs if trying to charge continuous. Also, the ones I got cannot be solar charged while in use. Hence, the need for two and rotation. I could be wrong though. Might be a lighter solution than a typical build in the long run. I intend to add a second battery also. But until then, I hope this works.

Here is my initial report about using a generator battery with the lectric XP.

I took a 10-mile trip and had the generator battery plugged in and it worked. I charged the battery at night and had a full battery charged. On the first half of the trip ½ way through the battery fluctuated between 10 and 9 bars; at the end of the trip, I had 9 bars after a 5-mile trip. I went to the gym for about 2 hrs and left the battery charging. When I came back it was fully charged. On my way back the same scenario happened. At the end of the trip – the battery generator still had 4 out of 5 bars left of charge. I assume with the battery generator I should get 30 or 40 miles extra. This is much cheaper than buying a spare battery and lugging it around. The spare battery would weigh about 7-8lbs the battery generator weighs about 4lbs. I store it in my pannier while riding.

I'm excited to try this. My bike is apparently in New Mexico now and actually shipping. Are you saying you were in fact able to charge the bike WHILE riding it? Do you have a folding or flexible solar panel planned? Can you share a pic or two of the set up? Thanks for posting an update.

Fantastic so can you charger 🔌 it while riding on the bike same time plugged in to generator

This appears to be the same as the Aimton inverter sold on Amazon, but it is $20 cheaper.

45000 mAh GoPower Plus linked in the reply above is $30 each, 3000 more mAh, 167 watts, confirmed that (18) 18650s are the batteries, and includes weather radio.

Does the one you're using have exhaust fans on the sides? Does it get hot in the panniers?
 
That's not a generator, it's just a battery with charger and an inverter in one package. Not even sure how big of a battery is, as it states 42Ah, but doesn't mention the voltage for that amperage. For that price, you sure aren't getting a 12V 42Ah battery that size. It does say it's 155Wh in another area of the description, which seems right given the size and price. If so, it is about 1/3 the capacity of the Lectric battery, minus some for conversion losses going from whatever voltage the Webetop battery is to 120V of the Lectric charger and back down to 48V of the Lectric battery. So, it would be a little boost to the stock battery, but not that much of a range extender.

@Gmeng just so I understand... you plug the 120VAC Lectric battery charger into the Webetop and charge the Lectric battery that is in the bike while riding?

@Gmeng just so I understand... you plug the 120VAC Lectric battery charger into the Webetop and charge the Lectric battery that is in the bike while riding?

Mine are 167w each. 334 total. With a decent solar panel and a 7210 mppt or CKE300 charge booster the set up starts to get pretty interesting and affordable.
