This is a great article, even though it doesn't mention ebikes.

LeBron's passion for biking seems fairly well known, and not only does he not like driving cars but uses his bike to go just about everywhere possible, passing that message on to the kids he meets, and buying bikes and helmets for many.

What struck me the most relative to ebikes though, was the mention in the article of 'don't hit me.'

Its a great reminder, as I find many of my customers getting into ebiking, after not having biked much for years, whereas LeBron has been doing it consistently his entire life.

Now as everyone ebikes more and more, and are getting onto roads they may not have ventured on with a bike, or going into new areas, it's imperative to keep in mind that a lot of motorists are not going to be used to seeing you, and in particular seeing someone on a bike going as fast as you might now be going.

It really begs for a LOT of caution and heads up riding. Also, when those of us over 50, were riding more than 20 years ago, we didn't have to deal with motorists who have their faces planted in their cell phones. Or texting and being so distracted. So the dangers are a lot different today.

I feel like a T-shirt emblazoned with BIG bold black letters on neon green that says "DON'T HIT ME" would be appropriate, but likely too late for the numbskulls staring at their phones while driving. (Maybe it'd be like the 'hit me ' sign that high school or grade school pranksters would tape on some unsuspecting victims back.) Thus having the not intended effect.

So from now on, I'm adding 'safe ' to my frequent email and blog sign off message :

happy and safe ebiking !
