LCD battery blink

I own a couple of Easy Motion Neo bikes. One, purchased used and out of warranty, is a Neo Extrem. My son uses it to commute to graduate school in Washington DC. Recently the LCD unit on the Extrem blinks and shows no capacity in the battery, but in fact the battery is charged and the LCD isn't defective. I know this because if I switch the LCD and the battery from my bike, a Neo Volt Sport, to his Extrem, my gear produces the same symptom on his bike whereas his gear works fine on my bike. His bike works fine with the blinking display, but it would be nice and sometimes important to know the remaining battery capacity.

Can anyone help me by identifying the cause of the malfunction, and, even better, a solution?

It's most likely an issue with the display. If you're still on the island stop by and I'll swap it out for you or give me a call tomorrow and I'll help you through it. Generally this happens when you upgrade to a 12ah battery. Did you happen to do that in the Xtreme? Basically the 2013 displays aren't compatible with the 2014 bikes.

Thanks for the quick response and the generous offer to swap out the display. I haven't upgraded the battery on the Extrem, or changed anything on it since my son started using it for his commute in August. Everything was fine until 2 days ago. It can't be a defective display since the one that functions perfectly on my Volt also does the "battery blink" when I put it on the Extrem, and the display on the Extrem works fine if I put it on my Volt. I'm guessing that it is either a defective controller or a problem with an electrical contact somewhere between the receiver for the display and the receiver for the battery. I'll give you a call sometime this week to see if there is a DIY strategy I can employ before taking it to the dealer in Alexandria. I wish I could take it to you, but the bike is in DC, not on Long Island.

I would check the connectors as they could also be the issue. Clean the prongs on the display mount, where you slide the display in place. Also open up the wired connection that attaches the mount. It could be loose or have some dust in it, surprisingly it doesn't take much for this to be impacted. You can use alcohol on the holder and dust-off on the wired connector. Hope that helps.

I'm having pretty much the same issue may I ask you a question. When you put a fully charged battery on the bike. Then power the bike up. In the beginning does it show your battery at full power on the LCD screen and then once you take off it'll drop down to nothing and start flashing. That was a beginning symptom.
