Kickstand Alternative ( YES ! )

ok so what's so bad about kickstand?

when I ride my bike, my kickstand is not interfering anything and not making any noise (no rattling sound, nothing)

it's not heavy either.. so what's so bad about it?
Well you must have a better stand than I do. Mine rattles on rough ground and is big and clunky. I just don't like it. Holds the bike up ok.

the damn thing rattles and clunks like a poorly sprung potato wagon. ... Guess I'll have to look into a better regular kickstand.
If you find one let us know. I'm really tired of the Beavis "boooooiiinnnnnngg" noise from mine, but I use it too much to just toss it. The above Click Stand looks great, except it would get stolen within a week where I ride and park. And they'd likely drop my bike onto cement, too.

Well, fudge, Stefan. After looking at that pic of yours, I immediately went to ebay and ordered one. Where, how and why did it break? Did the fall do any damage to your bike? Looking at it, I assumed it was made from aluminum. When mine arrives, I'll reevaluate whether it's worth having a 60 pound plus fat ebike bear down on this thing before I put it into service. Appreciate that heads up!
Return it immediately. The thing appears to be designed for lightweight MTBs. My e-MTB (53 lbs) was leaning at the prescribed angle on the stand. I removed the stand from the bike then tried to use it again. At that moment, the weight of the e-MTB made the whole top part just snap! I tried to re-use the bottom part then the thing just broke into little pieces.

I'm very sorry for recommending something I haven't used for at least couple of days.

Yours sounds like it’s just worn out and it’s time for a new one. I’ve had to replace a few kickstands in my life that just were either of poor design, poor material, or just worn down.

I'll give a report once the thing arrives, which btw, might be a very long wait as the seller sent it via the US postal service, which is in the throes of a shipping melt down these days!

Oh well Stefan, maybe you can find a stick forked at one end.🤔

The thing is, I rarely buy anything I can make myself, & it often turns out better than what
I could purchase because I´m always looking for a way to improve things. Yesterday, on the
third attempt I finally came up with an elegant trailer hitch for the moscow. The previous one
was heavy, awkward, & of dubious strength.
I few years back a prominent aeronautical engineer died & I got a strap of titanium alloy leftover from the ´skunk works´ build of the ´Black Bird´ at the estate sale for $5. The stuff is super strong & an absolute bitch to cut & shape, but my ultra-tough hitch weighs 3 1/2 ounces. I used another bit to reinforce the trailer, & I still have 80% of the strap left. I look at things & ask myself, what could i make with that?

Can one cut ti with a torch ok?

The problem is that Titanium melts a 3000+ degrees & oxidizes in air losing its temper as well. The
stuff is a nightmare to weld. I have a feeling this was a custom alloy. I used a diamond dremel disc
& bits. They are actually quite cheap from Widget supply.com., but wear rapidly. It was only 4 mm
thick, but equivalent to chromoly 1/4¨ thick & weighing 40% less by volume.

No pictures of the elegant hitch?📸

Ya know, one of these little guys just might solve half my problem.

Maybe, if I ever get around to charging a camera. For reasons unknown I can´t get pics to download,
Can only access old stuff. Even then, I´m not able to move stuff outa storage to post? The Rooshuns
musta hacked me or sumpin.🥺
Other priorities just now, like crashing outa ´dis joint & hitting the road. I have two bikes now ready to
tour but am leaning to the gas bike. It´s lighter, faster, more range & doesn´t need 5 hrs. to charge.
I ride E 98% of the time, but the gasser really is better for distant travel. I can take a spare engine that´s
lighter than a battery.

I used to be big into cameras. Some photoshop. I’ve forgotten most of it. Now I just use the phone, email pics to myself an then screen capture for posting.

No biggie, just curious.
It’s not a big priority, just a pic. I can take a pic with my phone and have it posted in a minute. You own and have two bikes ready to tour and, evidently, have built a light spare gas engine to haul with you.👍

I have never owned a phone in my life. The wife´s is an appendage like another foot. I have 4 functional engines & 2 POS. Two 35 cc 4strokes, honda & sooby, & two Identical Tanaka PF 40cc 2strokes. The
Tanakas weigh 7 pd, my batteries are 9 & 11 pds not counting motor weight. They are the Rolls Royce of weedeater engines. They burn cleaner than the 2 4strkes, sold for up to $435 before production ended because they could no longer be made at a profit. 7 year warranty, & neither one is even broken in.
As set up they can ´easily´take a bike 200+ mpg, speeds to 36 mph though 15 mph is best for range.
