Is this solution for people who can’t justify/afford R&M price to entry?

I'll be the first to admit I have test drove a couple of R&M's and they are one fine machine. My wife and I are looking at Ebike purchases so the bill is times 2...

CUBE Stereo Hybrid 120 Pro Allroad 29 with mudguards, lights and racks.

Approximately $4,200. Pretty excited to at least test drive it. Dual suspension, rear rack & lights.

Opinions please

hello! with all respect, maybe it is not the right room? very beautiful bike that cube but i believe better to post in cube room...is like buying a volvo and then ask to bmw 's users if it is the right choice...
PS why use the word 'justify' in title talking to people who bought and justified RM's prices?

I'm looking at getting a 2020 cube bike, the new design is slick and you get great value for the money. Was also looking at Haibike, but pretty sure Cube is going to produce what i want.

My first ebike was a Cube Hybrid Exc 500, a nice bike for starting. However I ended up riding way more often and way further than I imagined. My ebike has now almost replaced my car. I ride every day without rain. I average over 30 miles a day. Having a more durable, comfortable, better designed bike is worth every penny. I save about $400 a month on fuel, parking and wear/maintenance on my car (which now will last far longer).

I now ride a Riese & Muller Homage Rohloff HS. There is no comparison or equivalence. One is a Volkswagon the other is a Mercedes Benz. If finance dictates choosing a lesser bike, just don't kid yourself that the only difference is prestige. With Riese & Muller you are getting uniquely functional design, meticulous build quality and top shelf component selection which all adds up to a fantastic bike that puts a grin on your face every time you mount up. I guess what I am saying is that, if you can afford the extra money for a Riese & Muller, go for it. I have no regrets.

Probably worth pointing out that the R&M Homage is a full suspension bike with a rear rack, while the Cube Hybrid is front suspension only. Also, the Rohloff on the R&M is in a different league than the external gearing on the Cube. The Rohloff not only has almost no maintenance itself, it has a wider gear range than any cog set (even the super wide SRAM AXS 10-50!).

No offense to anyone, but that CUBE rear rack is hideous and probably completely impractical. The R&M Delite rack can handle very heavy loads (I've loaded it up to 25kg) while still preserving full dual-sus functionality. R&M really has this figured out and there's nobody that's done it better.

In terms of racks for dual-sus, I can suggest Topeak MTX. It doesn't have the carrying capacity, but does hold 10kgs max and is capable of storing, e.g., an extra battery. It's not ideal, and you have to position it way above the rear wheel, but it does its job.

Hello Dadanka have you had any flat tires since you installed the foam inserts?

While the rack on my Cube may not be the prettiest, it is integrated into the frame and has one virtue lacking on any Riese & Muller rack...dropped lower rails for panniers that allow the rack to hold both panniers and a trunk bag. While it is a hardtail and has a metal spring shock giving it a far less comfortable ride, it has a derestricted Bosch CX with an 18 tooth front chain ring and a 11-46 cassette in the back. It has a quick sporty feel about it compared with the more sedate and substantial Riese & Muller bikes. It is a very good ride while the Delight Mountain with the identical drive train and Fox suspension upgrade is superb and almost as quick. Plus the rack and cargo are suspended, a real plus.

hi steve, we are OT but I owe you an answer I had no flat at all but actually I barely used my bike with these new schwalbes + the foam (just from late November to mid-March and now from mid-August onwards). In mid-March a friend make me fell and I broke my elbow on one side and the shoulder on the other. Complicated months, as you can imagine, between immobility, therapy and recovery. I lost the good season. But anyway, it could have been worse. My Supercharger, I only broke the left brake lever, the camera and the left turn signal so no real damage. It doesn't even make any weird noise! frame and the rest are still perfect

I am sorry to hear about your accident. I am not surprised the bike is fine. I have crashed mine too. These frames can take a licking and keep on ticking. Get well and ride on.
