Is Rear Hub Drive Prone to Rear Tire Flats?

Flock that! ... Twice I've gotten a rear flat +5 miles from home and I rode that biAtch all the way home via throttle. 🙃
Both times it was crazy hot and humid. No damage to the rim. Both times I replaced the tube but the tire was fine.
That said I'm not that heavy, 160lbs and I rode standing up leaning as far forward as possible.
ymmv
My one way commute route is 4 miles. My flat was a mile from home. Pushed the bike home and drove to work. I still got my exercise. 😂

Wire bead, heavy duty tube, and Muc-Off tube sealant.

Todays trivia: Black hornets have a highly fuzzy texture in the mouth, that no one would ever expect from looking at one. One hit my teeth at full speed yesterday and stung my lower lip, so I looked like a Hollywood collagen lip disaster.

I've never had to do it but I'm told Tannus inserts provide enough bulk to allow riding on a flat. Probably wouldn't work with fat tires though.

A couple of years back, I saw a guy loading his bike at a trailhead with pine needles sticking out between the rear tire & rim. He said he got a flat, stuffed pine needles into the tire and rode 7 miles back on it. I had heard about this trick before but was skeptical of the idea. Seeing is believing though.

Wonder if he was riding tubeless.
