It looks like the tracks are still used (and maintained). I guess not often though. I don't know if I'd really do it, but I think if I had half a chance I'd sure consider that trip! There must be a lot of other potential railroads though. I took El Chepe from Chihuahua to Los Mochis a few years ago. (The Copper Canyon train.) That would be a good one if you knew the train schedule. There over 100 tunnels and a zillion trestles that you wouldn't want to be in the middle of when a train came along. But I think that's maybe 4 times a day and the schedule is pretty knowable. The scenery and the people are fantastic. Still, Patagonia looks hard to beat.

Excellent video, truly inspiring. I want to complete the Camino de Santiago by e bike in the next few years. This would be a great goal down the road after that.

An electric folding bike plus two or three batteries plus this kind of solar charger on top the railroad bike frame would make it possible for those of us with some limitations due to health.

Sorry, I assumed they still made one. They shouldn’t be too difficult to cobble together with flexible solar panels and a little electrical know how (which I certainly do NOT have!)

Brilliant! I never knew there was such a thing as a bike ride on a railroad track. Hats off to Peter for an incredible job filming and editing. Kept me riveted the entire time. My only wonder was what would happen if they met a train? Guessing they had to get permission from the RR to use the tracks and were informed as to when the trains were scheduled to run.

Always wanted to visit Patagonia. This video gave me a nice taste of it.
