I don't think you (we) are going to have to wait very long for a BBS02 with a decent capacity Samsung battery, probably as a kit. Maybe $600?
This company made one post here a while back. Not sure what the specs are, but they offer a ton of batteries in the PVC wrap. If you scroll down you see the different voltages, and different Samsung cells. The prices are, well, pretty spectacular.

If you can get a BD frame for $350, a battery for $250 and a BBS02 for $400, that's pretty good. If you do this wholesale, like the Sondobike, it's maybe $700? I don't know. Biktrix was going to do a CF for a bike like this, around $800, the Stunner. @roshan sometimes hangs around.
Who needs CF if you can buy direct?

At first glance I thought it included a bike, until I scrolled down and saw the possible applications pictures. Still looks like a very good deal with the big battery! I didn't notice a turn around time or expected delivery time.

I think you answered your own question. A turn key kit, mountable battery and bike of your choice. A sub $1,000 ebike should be doable, if not now, soon.

You still need a decent bike if it's to hold together. The extra weight and speed mean every pothole and curb impact is greater than cheap bikes are made to handle. Much less cheap brakes. You can build a sub 1,000 bike now, no problem with unknown Chinese parts. I'd still spend 1,500 and get good stuff.

That's the dilemma. I run a BikesDirect frame with a Mac front hub. The fork is a steel Surly, but everything else is stock. I run ebike rated tires, 50 kph. Nothing about the BD frame concerns me. The mechanical brakes are OK. I'm not looking for speed. People should understand how much more energy there is to 'dissipate' if you and the bike part company at high speed. The stresses at 30 are massively greater than at 17 mph. It's also much easier to dodge potholes at 17 mph.
It's tough to say what is inside the cheap battery pack. There are little details that might affect the lifespan. I wanted to try a cheap battery and went with a 15 AH Lifepo for $260. It's bulky and heavy, but I can live with that if it works. With pouch batteries there are tabs to connect, and only 12 cells. Lifepo is considered the safest chemistry.
All I know is that Ali vendors will connect cells and make packs with a BMS. Most will realize that they shouldn't cut too many corners. They want to build a market. As for the BBS02, it's now a mass market product and the price of production is probably lower.
A lot of this stuff just has to play out. Can the Ali vendors build trust? I bought my battery through Ebay, where there is more structure and, for me, more trust. Right now, I would still go with EM3ev or Lectric Cycles, if I had a frame I wanted to build out.

IMO the frame and wheel set are the most important components. The vast majority of bike frames are made in China or Taiwan unless you are buying custom built. I've converted 3 bikes and have over 3,000 miles on the 1st conversion with no problems. On that bike, I did upgrade to a Mavic rim set because I did have issues with the generic set provided.

High Court I actually have been dealing with Alibaba since the beginning because I wanted to give them a shot and see if I can establish some sort of relationship with the distributors. I was actually taken care of very nicely and they made sure that they handled everything to my satisfaction.
The one problem that I did see was that there are so many vendors and distributors offering similar products you have to be sure of what you're getting before you actually place your order. Some prices seem very good and they might be but then you realize they are for bulk orders of 5 to ten or even more. Also some of the lower prices are for older units which they claim are newer.
It's not a big issue to most, but I like to be sure that I have the latest components and hardware. If you're talking about the 750 watt 8FUN mid drive, I need your to get the C965 LCD display which is the latest one. The battery that I went with I was with another distributor and we made sure that the connectors were the ones that I needed so they would fit seamlessly and I wouldn't have any unexpected issues once I received everything. I guess I can say I was kind of lucky with my first build because everything slid in perfectly and I couldn't ask for more.
I will definitely continue to get my parts directly from the distributors I've worked with in the past.
The Cannondale that I just finished up this Sunday gave me some issues on the bottom bracket, but I just use the Dremel and a little stone grinder and it went right through. If I decide that I want to use it or sell it as a regular bike in the future, I'm going to have to tap it or have it rethread. If you have any questions or would like any referrals please let me know and I will gladly let you know who I dealt with. I'm actually in the process of looking for a new battery as well because I'm planning on putting it in my backpack at home friends that I have been using recently I can't fit it in the center triangle like it is meant to be.
If you notice that picture of the bike that you showed actually showed two batteries one going on the down tube and the other on a rear rack. I don't know if that was just for demonstration purposes to show possible locations.

I'm glad to see you got your Cannondale finished. Sourcing Bafang components can be a strange and bewildering ordeal. My first purchase of two mid-drive BBS02's was direct from Bafang. I've searched for better pricing on a constant basis (for the last 1.5 years) and have found that delivered pricing from a lot of sources falls pretty much within a narrow range. On my third and fourth conversions I decided to use em3ev because the pricing was reasonable, the shipping was fast and Paul is a very knowledgeable seller. Since I now have 6 electric bikes and it's just myself and my wife riding, I think my conversion days are behind me........unless something new and groundbreaking arrives, then I'll be back at it again
. I built my own battery boxes to accommodate "brick" LiFePO4 packs, primarily because bricks can be had for relatively less money at higher capacity. I've had good luck buying them from two vendors on Ebay. Have fun riding, it's what it's all about!!!!!!Court J.

Sorry you are leaving the building game, but maybe you have enough. I picked up a LiFePo. It took 9 weeks to get here. I guess it wasn't the vendor you used, on Ebay, but it ended up being $260 for a 15AH and 36v battery. It says "Sun Thing", which may be a common brand. I've run the pack down and checked the voltages and the amps out. Looks pretty good, very close to advertised capacity. I had to cut off the connectors, but that was it.
The research stuff says these are 2,000 cycle batteries. If you can stop charging at 80%, I don't know how long they would last. I understand that the size would be a problem for most people but if you can make the size and weight work, they seem like a good deal. Since they are big cells, there are no parallel strings, just 12 in series. That makes it easy to see a problem if one cell goes bad.
I have a Prodeco X3 with Lifepo batteries, and after 2 years it seems very close to original capacity. I think the packs get bounced enough to eventually fail from the connections, or some internal fault, but Lifepo is safer if things go bad.
I guess you could sell something. That BD frame with the rear Mac seems like an interesting bike.

I've seen some new batteries out right now that are super small and give tremendous power. One fits right in the tool bag under your seat. Granted I believe voltage might be a little bit less than the amp hours are about 8 or 10, instead of the 13, 15 or 20 that most of us seem to work with or planning to use. I don't have to tell you that less weight increases distance and speed(depending on setup of course).
I'm sure I read it in previous posts. How fast were you getting up to? It seems that distance was more what you were going for then speed... Is that correct? I believe I read that you were building the boxes out of wood... Have you ever tried the canvas type battery bags to save on weight? Not that u had to, I was just wondering. lol

I used him for the MAC 500 rear hub. It took about 8 weeks because he sent it ocean freight, but it was free shipping. I have about 600 miles on that bike and the battery is very good. LOL...I think 6 bicycles is about my current limit. No doubt when an upgraded system comes out, I'll get the conversion bug again!!!!

All the battery boxes are made from 6061 aluminum plate. They add about 3-4 lbs to the bike, but they are extremely secure and fit large size batteries. I build for speed and distance. Three of the bikes have 15AH batteries and the EMT1000 tandem has a 48V 20AH battery.
