Hi, Im thinking about buying a Ancheer Power Plus Electric Mountain Bike from amazon. People that had bought the bike said it goes 17mph and want to see if I could increase that speed to 20 or 21mph?

Thanks for any help.

You have limited options due to the following reasons:
1. The motor is rated at 250 watts
2. The gearing of the motor may prevent the motor from spinning faster than the factory spec.

However, there is one option that is very easy to do, but it will cost you money ($399.95 to be specific) and you run the risk of burning your controller. And that is by over volting it (the hot rodding solution in ebikes). Increased voltage enables the electric motor to turn faster.

If you add up the total cost plus the risk of destroying your ebike, then the more decent $1200-1500 ebikes make more sense.

Thanks for the advice. I Appreciate it.

A few bikes have controllers that can run between 36 and 48 volts, but most bikes sold with 36V batteries have controllers that will eventually blow up at the higher voltage. It costs about 50 cents for upgraded parts for a controller last at higher voltage, but that's like 4 bucks in China, enough for a fast food lunch when I was there on a visit, so they don't do it.

If you were able to swap to a 48V 350W controller, around $40-50, that bike could go 20-22 mph with a bigger battery. Electrical experience and a level of mechanical ability is needed to swap.

It wouldn't make sense to buy a $600 bike and then add $450 for battery/controller to go faster. Still, I think that bike, if it holds up, is a nice package. Disk brakes. Front suspension. I know it's all cheap stuff, but still impressive.

Go on youtube and search ancheer ebike.
There you will find the crazy Romanian.
He has moded his bike by unplugging a wire in the controller. Hope this helps.
