It'll get to almost everyone at some point but here's my story. Was vaccinated early on in March 2021 and got the booster mid November 2021. I'm a government employee that has some interactions with the general public in a public building where there is a strict masking policy. We sparingly attend family gatherings in which all attendants are vaccinated.

My first symptom was an itchy throat followed by a fever that same night. On day three, I officially got a positive result from a rapid antigen test at our local urgent care center. I had a low grade fever for about three nights and had night sweats for about 5 nights. I still don't have 100% sense of smell and taste, still have a bit of a lingering cough and have a bit of "brain fog" (which is unfortunate since I'm not quick-witted to begin with). Otherwise I feel just the same as before the illness.

Hope you all stay safe out there!

I thought Omicron didn't affect taste or smell? Could have been Delta.

I thought I got it from my son as he's in sports and also likes to hang around with friends... started with a sore throat and then cough and then body aches... but no fever. Whole family got tested... negative. Evidently there is some cold running around with those symptoms as I've talked to more than a handful who had similar symptoms but also tested negative.

I keep reading/hearing that a large percentage will get Omicron... and while it's reported to be mild... I'd rather not.

Getting Covid-fatigue. :(

There is still a huge disparity between the number of vaccinated folks who are infected and the number of unvaccinated, a larger disparity between hospitalization cases for the two (even accounting for the numbers who were diagnosed with COVID incidentally too being hospitalized for something else) and for the death rates.

12 family members got together for Christmas - all vaccinated, most boosted - and half of us ended up with COVID (not me or my husband 🤞). Fortunately, all of the ones who got it had very mild symptoms... Almost certainly because of vaccination status.

We may all end up getting Omicron, but I'm pretty certain the difference in the severity and death rates will continue to be stark.

The earlier reports did indicate that smell and taste senses were not effected. I’m making an assumption that the strain I (and my entire family) got is Omicron. My household members did not all test at the same place. The reason I’m making that assumption is that when our daughter tested, it was at the ER and since they have to report to the state, they also checked what strain it is. As a parent, I usually don’t freak out but we felt we needed to bring her in as she was running between 101-103F for a few hours and then started vomiting. Luckily her vitals were fine and she was not admitted and we were told that she was just a bit dehydrated.

And not to cause you alarm but reports are also saying that Omicron may not be coming up on some tests due to the generally shorter incubation periods. You may have had it and just were not tested at the right time for it.

Actually some tests are just not able to tell.

There are reports here in our local Japanese press and on Reuters that omicron doesn’t spread to the nasal passages until late in the infection. Israelis therefore are swabbing the back of the throats to get a more viable sample although that’s not the designed application for the included swabs.

They're just not trying hard enough. Why haven't they learned from the CCP yet? Anal swabbing is the reliable way.

Yes, there is a bad cold/crud going around as well. I live in Palm Springs, fully vaccinated and got the cough w flem and was tired for 4 days. No fever no sore throat. I decided to get tested and was negative. I have spoken to several friends that had the same thing. I read today that Fauci is saying we all will probably get the Omnicron...

I was also vaccinated in March 2021 and got Covid the end of this last October. I got a test kit at the nearest Walgreens and it showed positive. Pretty mild case. Then near Christmas I got just the regular flu, not bad but actually worse than the Covid-19. I had a hard time getting a test this time and a slot opened up at the local Walgreens and it showed negative.

I’ve had flu that felt worse, too. But my bout of Covid lasted much longer than my typical 1-2 days of flu suffering.

Having the vaccine and booster will make it a lot less likely you will have severe symptoms from any of the variants.

The Omicron variant rarely causes loss of smell or taste so it is possible you got Delta and that variant is more likely to cause severe illness in people that are unvaccinated or have other health issues.

Glad you are vaccinated and hope for a speedy recovery!

Good to hear people are able to make reports without permanently disappearing as they did from another forum I’m on during 2020. Sounds like the vaccinations are doing good things.

Several reports that the UK wave has definitely crested, and the I-95 corridor of the US East Coast is showing signs of ebbing as well. We’re just now seeing major statistical jumps in Tokyo. I reckon this will last a few months here because of the high rate of masking and uber hygienic protocols. Sadly the bike is in storage until spring but I’ve found some pleasure being able to watch morning news and markets on the treadmill. I’ve been fully vaccinated twice (two full sets of two Moderna initial dosage) and going for a Moderna booster end of January.

Y’all stay safe and wear a good 😷!

Biden and the media kept telling me he was going to shut the virus down?
More deaths under Biden then Trump. WTF is going on Joe?

With the All American Sh*tshow 🇺🇸 using Covid as a political weapon on both sides, it appears Uncle Joe is winning if you look at last year’s death demographics. What’s amazing is - well, he’s doing it despite himself. Sad but true.
