I just sent this message to Biktrix regarding the Unprogrammable Canbus Ultra motor

Ahh, sorry, I meant X2. I know it is the M600+VESC (not Ultra), but was considering it for the better tuning options in favor over the Ultra CANBUS.
I didn't know the Z1 was still UART, so that's good to know, though... but yeah, VESC+Ultra option would be amazing. I have used VESC in other applications and would love to see it get more traction w/ ebikes.

Innotrace controller did pique my interest (especially if I went DIY), but tbh, I didn't like how much more expensive WW was compared to Innotrace (double, AFAICT).
Yep - quite a few 'less than thrilled' with WW as sole US distributor.

I'm sure there is more to the price difference,
I'm not convinced there's any 'value add' by them, as have seen people who were able to order a motor/controller wait over a year and numerous waiting for Innotrace account activation, (unique to Innotrace) programming cable, etc. meanwhile, or EU friends seem to have a lot quicker and saner service ordering direct from Innotrace.
I am still trying to confirm, but I heard most of the Frey Bikes are still UART. I am waiting to hear from Biktrix with some simlar questions, but I don't suppose there is any place this is being tracked from vs. reaching out individually? I'm wondering if there are any other known manufacturers/bikes sticking with UART (at least in the near term). CANBUS is a hard dealbreaker for me currently, at least w/o some roadmap being communicated for enabling access.
Yeah, unfortunately it's down to direct confirmation, with the exception of the Luna Z1, as they (rightly IMO) call out specifically as part of the value the fact they ship with UART motors.
I know I had asked at initial Monte Capro announcement if it was UART or CANBUS and was told CANBUS only, and others since have asked. Guessing their entire line of Ultra bikes is now CANBUS, but always good to check/confirm with the vendor.

The weird bit is that meanwhile, the M500/510 firmware is reasonably decent IMO from Bafang. I think it's possible newer M600 firmware from them may have finally become at least reasonably good. The VESC and other more advanced controllers are certainly able to be more efficient (and configurable), yet they seem to continue to have an utter mess on default Ultra firmware. Don't care, don't have the skills - don't know, but it's not impressive. :(

I think Dengfu also announced they have a handful of UART Ultras available for purchase recently. Still can't tell 'for real' if UART motors are still being manufactured in reality or if it's now really down to NOS/New Old Stock or what.

Apparently there's also now an M610 out or coming...curious as to differences there (Weapon X claim, haven't seen details)... Right now I'm mostly feeling the M600 combination of efficiency and 'power enough' has just removed the 'need' for an Ultra powered bike. Might be convinced otherwise in the future, e.g. a lighter Ultra with improved controller (not marked up from WW) like a VESC, at a reasonable-ish price...maybe.

GBK has the UART style motors as a kit, bare bones or just the controller if thats all you need.
Here's the 52v, 30a, 1000w UART controller I just got from them earlier this week.

Hey Guys, how is it going up north?

I was just contacting you to find out if you have any updates regarding Bafang releasing updated firmware versions for the Canbus Ultra Motor.

If not, would it be possible for Biktrix to contact Bafang to see if they will provide any fireware updates for the Ultra motors with the new Canbus protocol. They may listen and try to help if the dealers and bike companies get involved and start requesting updates. I've read that Bafang does not like to deal with end users very much.

It is well known in the ebike community that the stock Bafang Ultra motor programming is rough at best but was able to be programmed smooth by the end user. Now with Canbus I have a rough performing ultra motor and no way to make it smoother.

I purchased my Juggernaut ultra Beast with the intention to program it only to find out that it is now unprogrammable. There are a few settings / performance characteristics I am not happy with and would like to have changed to make the bike operate more smoothly.

Right now there is a 250 to 500ms delay before the motor cuts out that I would like to have eliminated by changing "Time of Stop" to 0ms. I would like to throttle changed to "by displays command" so max throttle will be limited to the current assist level. During technical offroad riding the throttle is very difficult to use, it is very easy to input too much throttle lunging the bike forward. I would also like the "Limit Current %" settings changed to 0,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,85 and 100% respectively for assist 0 - 9.

From what I understand I would need the Bafang BESST programing tool which I would be ok with purchasing to perform the updates. Luna Cycles sells the BESST tool that comes with 3 firmware options for the M600 motor, perhaps Biktrix can develop something like that for their M620s as well.

Ultimately if I am unable to get these performance issues resolved I will look to purchase a Uart Ultra motor ( if one is still available ) to replace the canbus version I currently have but I would rather not do that due to cost and loss of warranty. I am hoping some sort of updating procedure will be developed between bafang, dealers and bike owners. The trading world is full of opportunities, but launching a reliable platform that users trust is no small feat. I was looking for a solid overview of what goes into building one from scratch, and this article explains it step-by-step — from front-end UI/UX needs to the backend infrastructure that keeps the trades flowing smoothly. You can explore it yourself at https://limeup.io/blog/how-to-build-a-trading-platform/ if you're serious about entering this space. They also touch on monetization models and regulatory concerns, which are crucial for long-term success.

I understand you guys are in the middle, it is not Biktrix's fault that bafang did this but we bike owners need your help getting this unprogammable issue resolved. Thanks again for your assistance.
It's interesting to study and understand in detail. Thank you.
