I see that they are back again, I won't be riding thru them,
as the roads get slicker than snot, on a brass door knob,
when they are crossing a roadway......
I have a hard enough time keeping the dust off my bikes now....

Still have PTSD after driving an RV up a steep, twisty cricket-paved mountain road in Dinosaur National Monument ca. 2004. Yuck in every respect — especially the sound and smell driving over them, just like in the video.

Wife and kids were tired and hungry and cranky by then and didn't want to go to that canyon overlook in the first place. The last straw came when the crickets crashed the view picnic I'd promised them at the top.

So naturally the crickets were my fault.

My wife is Hispanic and she has an old superstition of it being bad luck to kill a cricket on accident or purpose. I have to capture it if one gets into the house and let it go outside. Not sure how that got started; but, my suspicions are the crickets started this superstition?

Uh-oh, just how much bad luck are we talking about? Must've run over zillions in our Mormon cricket encounter.

There were several vehicle crashes reported (local news) as a direct results when driving thru the crickets when they were crossing the roads.
If an 18 whler can't drive thru them, I know my bikes won't make either.

I wouldn't even think of a flame thrower around here, or any spark, all the countryside would go "POOF" in a heartbeat, then I would have nothing but charred ground to look at and ride in.

This is going to be a BAD year for range fires. I have even taken precautions with the bike, by strapping the battery's on the bikes,
just so they don't fall off and start a mess while riding. ymmv Tia.

In the backyard patio of the house I grew up in, there would be MANY flies filling around. They were regularly in one spot. I used to get my aluminum baseball bat and swing at them. *tink……..*tink……*tink……..they would say. As a 12 year old, that was quite fun.

Almost as much fun as taking out carpenter bees with a badminton racquet. 😊

'Twas a joke mate, no worries. :)
Here's hoping we all get a break from fires. Last year was terrible!
