I am deliberating between a Neo Cross and a Neo Jet

I'm deliberating between the Neo Cross and the Neo Jet ...
I'm 5'5 and in decent shape
Mostly for City Riding and 70 percent for actual biking (so I'm assuming lighter is better ... but I know little).
Any input would be appreciated.

Both are very very similar bikes.
In terms of the drive system, brakes, tires, there is absolutely no difference.

Given your height, I would suggest you Neo Jet. I have good friends who own these two bikes and for someone like 5'5, Jet is perfect.
The stand over height is important when you are at the stop signs, and while getting on/off the bike. Jet has this semi step_through that is stylish.

You can add fenders and racks to both.

Thank you so much. Someone mentioned that "frames with the more horizontal top tube (i.e., cross) tend to be more rigid and thus more efficient for pedaling". If I'm riding it as a bike a lot, should I maybe go for the cross. Also, if my husband (5'8) wants to ride it also ... thinking cross may be better. Do you think the cross will be too big for when I get to a stop?? Again, any input is GREATLY appreciated.

Hi Shawna,

The tube gauging on these bikes are huge enough to accommodate the extra load.
Although it is true that top tube helps in maintaining the rigidity of the frame, step-through frames have been around 100 years or so.
How these frames are welded, what kind of frame material is used and the QC matters a lot as well.

You get 5 years warranty on both bikes. Actually, my friend @eDean (Dean) has a Neo Jet and he sold his Pedego City Commuter to get this.
He did quite a bit of searching before he purchased the Jet, so he can chime in and help you with any specific questions regarding the height. He had the exact same problem with top tube being higher.

My thoughts - Neo Jet but just test ride it and decide for yourself.

We purchased a Neo Jet since my wife and I both wanted to ride the e-bike and were uncertain about purchasing a second. She's 5'2" and I'm 5'9", and it was a perfect compromise. If we had purchased the Cross, there would be no way she could use the bike. The only "complaint" is that with the Jet, extending the seat post for proper riding position to fit me is just at it's limit (thought I guess we could purchase a longer seat post if necessary).

Hey Shawna, as per our email correspondence I'm with Lee. Depending on your husbands inseam the Cross could even be a tight fit for him in the medium size. I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam and the Cross gives me just enough clearance with sneakers on the standover height. I do have a short inseam though.

IMHO Get the jet over the cross. I'm 5'6" on a good day with a 29ish inseam. This morning when I was ridding my Jet and I hit a very long red light and slid off the seat and did not have to make a decision on which side of the top bar my "jewels" would go, I actually thought, "gosh did I make the right decision." The only trade off between Jet and Cross is the styling of you are 5'6. If you can live with a step over frame look then it's a no brainer in my book.

Like Ravi mentioned my first bike a city commuter step over frame and was not a good fit for me. It took some fun out of the whole experience. It's also just a bad idea to have a crossbar that could hurt you in an emergency.

I have had no issues with the jet frame rigidity at all. BH knows how to make bikes and this one is not under designed. Plus, I can share it with my wife who is 5'4".
