I can’t find any videos are other guides on how to remove a rear wheel on this heavy bike. Here’s my guide to how to do it in the field.
SORRY - I HAVE NO IDEA WHY ALL THE PHOTOS ARE UPSIDE DOWN. I UPLOADED THEM IN THE CORRECT ORIENTATION
NOTE: When replacing the wheel ensure the chain tensioner spring is still properly attached.
A few things...
It takes me about 10 minutes to take the wheel off and about the same time to replace. However it took me ages to put a new set of Schwalbe Hurricans (E50s) on - they are so tight!

- Remove everything you can from the bike, even the batteries if necessary
- Carefully, lay you bike down.
- Holding somewhere sensible on the bike, stand the bike up on the handlebars and saddle - use the soft things to protect your handlebars
- Deflate the rear tyre
- Disconnect the electrical cable to the Rohloff hub - when reconnecting line up the white arrows.
- Take out the quick release axel - don’t loose it!
- Ease the wheel a small way out of the frame
- With the tyre deflated move it up and forward to give the belt some slack
- Ease of the best - it can bind to the sprocket so you might need to pry it off very gently
