Hi from The Hamptons, NY

Hamptons...that is synonim with 2+1 Stromers in the 10+ Ebike specific garage😉. Enjoy the ride 🚲☀️

q: what ebikes do folks ride over there ??

Congrats Street Peddler!
Please don’t second guess your decision to get a Lectric. So many choices will drive you crazy and Lectrics are super popular.

You’re gonna have a blast zipping around on your ebike! Feels like being a little kid again.
And a picture please. 😎🚴🏼‍♀️😃

Ebiker01, in the nearly 30 years I've lived in the Hamptons, I've seen exactly one ebike on the road. Not to say there aren't more, but it's not even close to a mode of transport that's caught on. (Whereas I know a guy with six cars, including 2 Ferraris and 2 Porches, so yeah, there are some very large and very full garages.)

When I saw that ebike - similar in design to a Lectric - a whole new level of thinking went off in my brain - hmmm, this is a likely answer to a few questions I've been carrying in my head, not least of which that ebikes are a new and exciting method of exercise for my wife and me. Ticks are so bad for 8 months of the year that we have to avoid walking in the woods until after the first freeze, usually late Dec.

There are a couple local shops that sell the high end stuff like Cannondales for 4 thou +. I guess someone is buying them, sure isn't me. The funny part is that my wife has no idea I just ordered an ebike for her. I have high hopes she'll recognize and embrace its inherent value once she gives it a spin around the block. If not, I can always sell hers at a slight loss.

Marci jo, I cannot wait to post a picture of our Lectrics! I hope it'll be sooner than later, but in these times, who knows!

I was having problems understanding what a 'Street Peddler' was doing living in the Hamptons in the first place - Maybe under a bridge somewhere? Talk about two terms not usually used in the same sentence! 🤔

Now, I think I may have figured it out - He's probably not really a 'Street Peddler' . . . . He's more likely a 'Street Pedaler' 🤣

Pedal vs Peddle will get you every time. Especially if you're a dealer doing both.

I pondered a name for about a microsecond and came up with "street peddler" when I joined the community. "Street Pedaler" is way better but my thinking didn't take me that far. Too late now. And anyway, hasn't that handle already been taken? It's a good one.

You will like it.
My wife, who(m) I can't get to actually buy an e-bike, rented one while we vacationed in FL last winter. She loved it. She had it set up as a Class 2 only and felt it was plenty fast. Easy to handle and comfortable, except for the seat. She prefers a bike seat like this one:

I've never seen a bike seat like that before ... visually it's hate at first sight, but you don't look at it while riding it .

I agree...it's godawful ugly. Those are tiny air bladders you inflate via a small air valve. I'll admit, it is cushy on your tushy.

In the Hamptons, both those guys would be sharing space under the bridge! 🤣

Don
But what if it caught on? Not everyone can pedal one of those. Only the elite top one-tenth of 1%. It would be more fun and better fitness than a Peloton! It could become a fitness status symbol on Long Island to show up for a tennis date riding one. Only a true stud could do it.

If I could find a truly outstanding bean (a never-ending search), I'd pedal into Sag Harbor and peddle coffee 3 or 4 mornings a week. Perfect job for a little extra income! PedalUma designs it, Art Deco pulls the required licenses (way beyond my pay grade and maybe he's cheaper than a lawyer), I'd ride into town on my chrome ebike and, like the Lone Ranger on Silver, right the world's injustices and sell really good coffee.

That seat looks like an AirHawk. I've used them on motorcycles and despite being homely without a cover, they're quite good. https://www.amazon.com/AIRHAWK-Moto...0804695&sprefix=air+hawk+motor,aps,157&sr=8-9

Getting Licenses in NY requires someone much better than most lawyers. Maybe even Divine Intervention, from what I've heard.
Edit But a well outfitted electric cargo bike selling gourmet coffee at fairs and farm markets would be worthwhile endeavor....

I rode my first ebike yesterday. I was walking Gracie our dog down a narrow little street along the bay when a new neighbor cruised by on a Rad Rover. I flagged him down. We talked. He was kind enough to let me take his Rad for a spin, which I did, and it was wonderful. When I got home, I told my wife of the brief but amazing encounter and announced in the same breath that I had gone and ordered us two ebikes several days ago. She actually shared my excitement, so big win. We often take the Kawasaki Versys 1000 on little forays, and it's fun, but I think our sense of shared adventure will kick up to a whole new level when we are each able to ride our own bikes.

You will love your Lectrics. I bought 1 about a year ago and the sickness started. Needed more. Bought 2 Espin Sports then needed more and bought a Frey CC. Yes, they are right N+1

Interesting you say that after telling me in another thread and I quote, “Folders are overrated. Get yourself a non folder and enjoy.”

For your first ebike it will be great. I was just not a big fan of folding it up. 63 lbs and just akward to fold and lift. My son converted it into a more of a bmx style bike and now I dont even think it folds. He added front suspension, new handlebars, bigger freewheel, and a few other mods.
