Hi there, I recently decided to buy an ebike for my 24k round trip commute to Dublin city - when researching I greatly enjoyed Court's reviews, found them super informative and personable; so I am delighted there is a supporting ebike community here too!

I got a cheap(ish) Carrera model (€1,200) from a big chain outlet here in Ireland, the specialist bike shops started at nearly double the price, much as I would like to support them my budget and my wife's frowning drove this down a bit....but there's always next time!

I was wondering what is the best way to care for the battery life? Is it like a phone where they dont like to drop to zero charge (so keep topped up as best as possible) or are should you fully discharge and complete a full recharge cycle? The battery is a Li-Ion Phylion 417Wh battery driving a Suntour rear hub electric motor system. Ideally I would get somewhere like 3 years out of this bike and go bigger better next time, is that lifespan realistic? I expect I will cover +7,000 kilometers a year.

Thanks again and look forward to learning more about these fantasic bikes on the forum!
