Probably screws off like the endcaps on the Martian spacecraft from War of the Worlds. In this case, the guy untorqued the cover so he could fo it by hand. You will need a tool because when the motor turns a crank gear, it really tightens the plate,

I've got a few AKM motors which also use rotating covers. They sell a tool like this, but some people have made one with a notched metal bar and a pair of holes, I've never opened mine, although one of them needs a new speed sensor..

My question though is what you going to do with this motor? If it's not electrical like a bad Hall sensor, could be tough to find things like replacement gears.

I seen that video and yeah its the same principle but dude the inside of this motor is extremely well built, ive never seen a motor built luke this it has your standard nylon gears but they drive 3metal gears around the gripped inner frame and when split in halfs theres a motor identical to those of a bosch middrive the actual electric motor the speed sensor your needing is probs the easiest job on it As its at the otherside from were u take the shell off and theres a tiny magnet built in the casing and the sensor is just there no takung parts apart ,but thats how far ive got into it as id to completely build the backwheel from scratch with a similar motor to get my nightbours bike running but im left with the motor cant wait to take it apart original problem was ware on cable entering the hub raw wire rubbing shortin out but i recked the body i ended up grinding it because there wasnt even a line even aftervi scraped were it should of been but it was really well tightened i had a modified socket and impactdriver tryna turn it it was chewing into the side were the cassette screws back on,rhese motors are not the early 2speed you seen in that vid im seriously thinking of getting one ive seen 1000watts etc if the hallsensors and other bits are easily worked im looking at reviews ive got a metal geared motor and its pulled me through this winter like it was summer thats the truth ✌️and thanks for the suggestion its appreciated 👍

The tool in the bottom pic wouldn't suit this as this sideplates opening part is just 2holes on the inside of were the cassette screws off its literally the same as a battery grinder tool for swapping out blades,so i imagine it would even be harder with a hand tool i gave it my best shot with the grinder tool then made my own i welded 2nuts to get over the debt of the part screwed them on welded a cross plate with 2holes and managed to thread one of the 2 bolts as the metal was like aluminium very soft for such a important part as it holds the rear cassette on but got it in the vice and with spanner and longbar it just wasnt moving even a lil as id it market so i welded a socket onto the nuts holding the flatplate with the 2bolts inserted and went at it as slow as possible just chucking it short bursts for atleast a halfhour i was gona warm it with the airgun but i still wasn't sure if it screwed off as it was a 2023 model and the u tube vulid was old but one of the screws pushed through the metal it sure wasnt for the want of trying.so now i can completely open everything up and see how it works if this works how i think ill be in the market for a good sized one for sure play claim watertight only way water is getting in is from the axle so that bunged up and nothings getting in that motor 👍,anybody else with this type of motor ? Can u shed some light on performance durability and just what u think towards a standard geared hub be glad to hear from ye ✌️✊👍
