Have to ask probably very dumb question on wasting charge cycles

I’ve discovered with my EM3ev BT BMS batteries that’s not the case.
For some of the custom packs I have had made, the builder went to the added trouble of testing individual cells - even the quality ones have a variance - and then only using the cells that are the closest to each other. I was told on my Bullitt pack that balancing would be very close to a waste of time and over a year later that still has held to be true. On my Great Pumpkin pack (31ah, Samsung 30Q) its been I think 2 years and same story. The cells were matched by hand and so there is almost no balance issue when I put them to the Satiator and let it sit and spin.
Propaganda
Don't be silly. Li-NMC cells degrade due to a known set of circumstances. Don't do those things to them and they do not degrade anywhere near as much. Denying that those things exist is not open to debate. What is debatable - mostly to yourself - is whether or not you feel you should do the things necessary to prolong the life of the pack.

So, sometimes I swap batteries for charging, and sometimes I just charge inside the bike.

Probable dumb question - if I am charging inside the bike, and I have to interrupt the charge to move the bike, having to pull the plug out, does that waste a charge cycle?
Does a typical battery pack count charge cycles?
lol, your fine, stop worrying about cycles because for one its an estimate and there are so many other contributing factors that will effect your battery life.
Charge your battery after every ride and have fun!

Charge your battery after every ride
1) The advised method, to improve the life of your battery, is to let the battery cool down after riding, before charging.
2) You don't want your battery sitting at full charge !
If you're not concerned with extending the life of your battery, you fully charge it just before riding the bike. This is an important safety issue as well. FIRE IS BAD !
3) True, these are estimates, however one estimate is, 3 TIME THE LIFE SPAN, of the other estimate!

yes charging a Hot battery is bad!

The only battery out of a dozen or so I’ve owned that needed to cool down was an undersized Luna 52v 14s2p running a BBSHD at full tilt. I’ve never had a properly sized battery with a BMS appropriately sized for the demands of the motor ever get more than a bit more than ambient temperatures. My EM3ev have BT temperature monitoring.

My batteries dont get hot either and im also running a BBSHD! no heat issues.

I've never noticed even a warm battery in the entire time I've been riding.

From Juiced Bikes:
The best time to charge your bike is right before your ride. Never charge right after riding! You want to wait at least 30 minutes before charging to allow the battery to cool down. Remember to always check your voltage on your LCD before you roll out.

Here's the link for the doubting tomas.

No, The estimated life of a pack is it's cycle number.
Charging to half charge counts as a half charge.
Interesting enough, if you regularly only charge to 80% full, you extend the life of your battery to way more cycles than the 20% difference. I think you actually double your cycles if I remember correctly. Edit, it's actually 3 times more cycles at 80 %.

Benefits of Partial Charge

One of the key benefits of the Cycle Satiator is its ability to let you easily control the charge level of your battery. It is now well known that most lithium chemistries (with the exception of LiFePO4) can see drastic improvements in calendar and cycle life when they are not held at the nominal full charge voltage of 4.2 V/cell but are charged to a lower voltage instead. That’s how electric car manufacturers are able to 5-8 year battery warranties on cells that usually only test to ~500 cycles.
Very cool ! Thanks !
