Has anyone wrapped their bike in Paint Protection Film?

I was wondering if anyone has wrapped their bike in Paint Protection Film to protect the paint. If you have any tips to share on what film or techniques or cuts/cutting methods you used, please let me know.

I'm thinking this will be a cheap way to make sure the bike looks clean and blemish free as much as possible.

Nope. I have a 26 year old DB mountain bike that got put through it's paces when I was younger. It now has a personality profile or character marks!! It's a CroMo frame and it's kept relatively clean, and it's lasted. At first glance you'd have no idea of it's age, how it was used, or even notice most of the marks. Look closer and you see them though. And some of them bring back memories of how they were got too, wouldn't trade them in!! Not sure film would have completely prevented some of them either.

My wife's new Stunner LT I think is going to be a different breed though. She's already asked about touch up paint just from me replacing a brake lever and moving the handlebars and seat stem a few times!!

Film may be cheap (haven't looked) but seems like it will be a PITA to apply and maintain.

I'm thinking it would make sense at least for the high risk areas and areas that might touch when the bike is folded...

Not much coverage for something the size of a bike so I'm thinking the cost and effort will be worth it...

A member wrapped with 3M vinyl wrap, which has some self healing properties. This is what I’ll be doing. And if it gets too dinged, rip and replace. Easy.

Yeah this is my thinking also. I also figured any especially vulnerable areas can be double wrapped.

Anyone care to comment on what areas are best for wrapping and double wrapping?
