Handlebar Plug Removal - Electra Townie Go 8i

I have ordered 2 Hafny Bar Bike mirrors for my Electra Townie Go 8i. I have attached a picture of the black rubber handlebar plug. What is the best way to take and keep the existing handlebar plug?

I may have to send the mirrors back and do not want to mess up my new bike. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much.

I have always found just grabbing and twisting the end while pulling will remove them. A flat blade screwdriver might help you get them started as well.

Use a small blade screwdriver and work your way around gently to ease them out. If needed replacements are available. You can get real fancy if you want; with many colors and materials like aluminum if you wanted. Most plugs are nothing special.

I insert a thin screwdriver between the grip and the handlebars and squirt some lubricant in there. WD-40 works fine and wipes off the bars after. Then a twist to break the seal, and the grips usually slip right off.

That black plug on the end probably was a push fit. Maybe it will push out after the grips are removed.

Tell you what I did last time to install a Mirricycle. I was in a hurry and ran a 3/8" drill thru the end of the grip.
