Grin Technologies moving to larger facility.

Wow 😲

Grin Technologies was interviewed by EBR before (at their old facility).

During the interview, Justin (owner of Grin) said that he has absolutely no interest of producing ebikes.
He is only interested in development of components (motor, controller, etc) and he even said he would rather work with customers who like building their own ebikes.

So obviously he likes his niche market.
Despite their niche market, looks like Grin is doing very well.

sorry to reply to this zombie thread, but Timpo's observation was right on. I've been learning a lot on Grin's site, watching their series of tech "deep dive" videos. So many questions answered that you all kind folks at EBR didn't have to answer for me ;-) I was surprised how committed Grin & Justin L-E seem to be to this model of preferring people to learn their way in, but he does offer the education and support for this. I'm going to see if Grin post exams too because I'm about ready for my A Levels.

I have bought a kit and other items from Grin and their customer service has been first class. They also have some great tools like the motor simulator on their website and they own and finance the Endless Sphere forum. They definitely give back to the DIY community.

I am not aware of any exams or certifications for ebike building or repair. There are some programs for bicycle service though and there are many programs out there for electronic technicians and even electrical engineering. I believe Justin studied electrical engineering in college and that is what got him interested in DIY ebikes.

I'll third that on the display. Hard to read and really dated. Looks like something you'd see used in the original Star Trek TV series.

I know!!!

Grin has one of the worst displays on ebike market.

There's no way a display needs to be that BIG with lowest resolution. 😕
So true. It's almost like a data-nerd point of pride to have the best data and the worst display.

I remember when OBED-II was new in autos and I got an early ScanGauge device to show me the data straight from the car's CPU data stream. That ScanGauge looked dated 20 years ago when I first put it in my Jeep and the Grin Tech display looks just like it. It's still there in my Jeep working fine 20 years later, and I have a Grin Tech CA3 on order to arrive soon so I guess I'm ok with it ;-)

I didn't know what you were talking about so I have to do a research.

You're right, it does look like something from 50 years ago lol
