Hi everybody,
After commuting by conventional bikes for decades and making fun of friends with "mopeds" I finally got an e-bike myself in January. I still have this feeling of guilt most days but it only lasts a couple of seconds after I hit the road. I shaved about 30 minutes off my 18 miles (one way) commute each day, time that I can use for better things. Yet I still get my workout in and, with the local traffic, I am faster than by car most days. Plus I have the best commute in the world, along the Pacific Coast on Highway 101.
I worked as a bike mechanic for many years and put a lot of research into the right bike for me. In the end I got a great deal on a 2016 Haibike XDuro Trekking RX and it has been great! Just hit the 2500 mile mark for the year.
I am hooked.
