I first joined the Specialized forums (not the one here) and posted 3 times and never got any replies, this forum/group has been great and I'm glad to be here. I also belong to Rat Rod Bikes. Any other good, active bike forums I should know about? (if that's allowed);)

This is the only ebike forum I'm a member of, so I can't suggest anyone else. I've been meaning to join Rat Rod Bikes as I have a swing bike and my wife has a Ed Roth Rat Fink Electra, the original steel one. Oh, and welcome!

There are always others ... Endless Sphere, Reddit subforum, etc.
The question is "Why Bother ?"😀

I was on roadbikereview.com for a while, but they were pretty snippy about people that sat on the seat, didn't stare at the ground all the time, and couldn't make 25 mph all day. Turns out they think a road bike is one that has 22 mm tires, drop handlebars, and forces you to lean on your hands the whole trip with your *** in the air. I think a road bike is one you ride on the road, which I do 99.9% of the time. No sympathy or useful suggestions for the tendency of my cruisers & MTB to throw me over the handlebars on the chin, either. I tried to buy a custom fork with more trail to center better. I called some custom bike builders. It like I was speaking Martian. "Bikes are perfect these days as they are." Yeah, right. So far 8000 miles later the stretch frame cargo bike left hasn't thrown me over the handlebars on my chin. I didn't add electricity until mile ~2000 when it took me 5.7 hours to get home at 4.5 mph into a headwind.

That is so true! Bear in mind, roadies mostly ride in a peloton. A special breed.
For instance, they are focused on having very tightly spread cogs in the cassette, like 1 cog tooth more for each subsequent gear for 8 top gears. The reason being, the peloton moves like one big body. If the group speed varies, a roadie's just shifting a little and applies the same cadence for all the time. They even avoid using brakes like in "The one who brakes will never drink champagne on the finish line!"

Welcome @bigb and thanks for being here. My goal has always been to create a friendly space with limited ads and enough moderation that it doesn't get out of control. Ebikes are great, it's a fun community of good people here :D
