Good Morning North America, Good Night Pacific!

Another ebike thread gone off subject......

I wonder what the most of EBR Forum members do when it is 7 p.m. in Central Europe. Riding? Eating lunch? :)

P.S. Waking up in the Pacific?

On the west coast of the US, when you are having your dinner in Poland, we are having our elevenses (late morning tea...) Or brunch, if someone else is cooking 😀

Well... 7 a.m. here. East Coast must be asleep. West Coast is falling asleep (still the day before). West Pacific starts their evening.

5:28 am Central European time
8:28 pm U.S. and Canada West Coast
11:28 pm American East Coast
1:28 pm QLD, AUS
3:28 pm Auckland NZ

Nobody in the Forums?

I am thinking about going to bed because I have been sleeping badly. I'll do the old "fall asleep whilst watching Midsomer Murders" ritual. It usually works except then I wonder who the murderer is and have to wait till morning.

It's a very peaceful-- yet grisly show.

Midsomer Murders
Where can you watch it?

Let me tell you the latest story: Polish grocery stores are ravaged because of the coming Easter. No eggs to be bought anymore! I woke up early and would ride for bread as soon as stores are open because bread is another missing commodity!

When I wake up in the middle of the night, I listen to audiobooks to keep my mind from thinking thinking thinking. I have a set of soft headphones and set the timer in my library app on my phone to shut off after 30min. You can't choose too exciting a story or that defeats the purpose. I set the volume at just at the edge of my hearing, so I fade out pretty quickly. If you are not sharing a bed with somebody, I suppose you wouldn't need the headphones, but headphones put the story right into your brain, whereas if you had the sound coming from the side table, it couldn't replace your own thinking thinking thinking so well.

Midsomer Murders is great for putting one to sleep. Lovely place, Midsomer. Would love to visit, but I'm not sure we would survive. We can get a week of sleep on a single episode...

It is around. It may be on one of the Brit channels but I find all episodes on Youtube. There are 20+ seasons? Episodes are an hour and a half long with some pretty original murdering. My favorite is the man pinned to the ground using croquet widgets? Hoopy things? while the murderer launches full bottles of wine with a trebuchet at the victim. Murder methods are pretty original as the series goes on.

I seem to recall that the UK law enforcement voted the show as the worst example of law enforcement on TV. There have been cute writeups of what not to do in Midsomer, like go into a rabbit show tent at night, walk on the road at night, go to fetes, compete in bell ringing contests, collect orchids, etc. Oh, and never stand near a castle where a block or statue can come tumbling off the roof!

Slept a tiny bit better, but still badly. The valley is roaring with the noise of the wind machines. They are towers with airplane style blades attached, powered by propane engines that come on when temperatures hit the freezing mark. The moving air helps prevent the buds on the fruit trees from freezing. On my ride the other day, I saw that one orchard was old school and had oil burning heaters placed around their orchard. Some orchardists will even have small fires going. It's a risky time of year. I am hoping that the cherries survive.

If you tire of Midsomer, try The Brokenwood Mysteries.
Just as quirky or more... set in NZ in the Auckland area.
The town they film in was also used for 800 Words - another fantastic Kiwi show. albeit a different genre.

I don't watch much Canadian or US shows other than live sports...

Oh joy. The wind is blowing already. I was thinking about a ride to one of the finer taco wagons for lunch. I'm cancelling that thought.

Seriously cold wind today. We are off on a camping trip to Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park. Gorgeous place. I've never cold weather camped before, but of course, we will be in our van, so it's not like we'll be chattering in a tent all night...

Seriously cold wind today.
There was cold and strong wind on Saturday here. I'm waking up to write a story in the David Berry's thread.
Yawn...
Besides, I could watch the whole Midsommer series in Poland when I was younger. Could watch it again!

I think Midsomer Murders is still in production? Couldn't find any info on it being cancelled. Just a delay for Covid so there are newer shows for you to watch.

If it is still in production, I will be happy.

When you watch Strava in the morning and can see your American EBR Forum friend had zoomed nearby Warsaw :D
