getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Sorry, I got confused because my frame is post mount and the new Disc Trucker is flat mount.
thats strange. yaI did not realize the difference. well they do have a round group on it so I guess that's why. still waiting for the front shifter parts and the bottom bracket. but I can't do all the work on one weekend anyway. I wish I could find a 10 speed xt front shifter but I can only find the 12.

Those are flat mounts indeed. In itiration of the Klein mount. To run 160 mm rotors you would need a caliper which is designed for flat mount. I have to find a manufacturer which has an adapter to run a 140 mm + adapter on a FM frame... And I ve seen a lot of interesting combinations.

Front or rear?

can you not use the 12 spd shifter, allowing for a couple of ghost gears?

AFAIK the 12 speed shifter produces a different stroke for the gear change than the 10-s one. Impractical.
Elaborating: There is a different distance between the cassette cogs for the 12 and the 10 speed system. The shifter is indexed for a given indexing, or the cog distance.

I am taking the front, not the back. The only difference there is the chain width.

What sucks is the trek needed a new chain new cassette new chainring, and there is still a little glitch on shifting from 9 to 8 so maybe new jockey wheels? and new brake pads. I dont usually have so many parts wear out and I need to spend money on the new bike build.

Well, it's your main transportation, so you have to do the maintenance. That reminds me that I need to get the oil changed in my car next week.

do it, just it all wore out at the same time. I think its the 3rd cassette and the 3rd chainring. The first one was aluminum and was bad in about 2000 miles the other two did 18k between them. I jsut dont want to spend a lot of money on a bike that will now be a backup bike right now. but now I iwll be able to compare drivetrain wear pretty well between mid drives and human drives.

Show us a pic of the jockey wheels, cleaned up.

Define the glitch. Does it overshift or undershift? Before I'd replace the jockey wheels I'd check the derailleur hanger alignment.

They looked ok last time I cleaned them a month ago. But it does not want to go from the 9th to the 8th cog. I forgot I also had the housing replaced, which was why because of that glitch. But it did not fix it. Neither did replacing the chain and the cassette.
