Gender Neutral Spanish

Would it be politically correct to make Spanish gender neutral?

If the Channel Islands off GB and Normandy are tax havens, now AI wants to conduct financial transactions a bit further offshore among and between satellites and base stations around the moon, where there are no regulations, courts, governments, or taxes. Profits would be sent to earth as virtual lunar traded only crypto casino chips. I will swap your house for three point seven two of these.
 
Has “waitress” vs. “waiter” become passé as well? I’m out of touch (and rather disinterested :) ), so if I still use “actress” please forgive me. :)

The fundamental question is interesting though. Since most (all?) of the Romance languages have gendered nouns, are they offensive in some way to some people? Not that I care, mind you, but I never considered it before.
