Excessive Heat Warning in Wisconsin

We're having the hottest day we've ever had in a long time and it just got me thinking...

Boy is it nice we have ebikes! Moving effortlessly faster provides the much-needed airflow to keep you cool. Just wanted to throw that out there.

So true! Cruising along without extreme effort is great!

We're under the same excessive heat warning here in eastern Pennsylvania as well.

Having an e-bike has almost doubled the riding season for me. At my age, major rides used to be limited to spring and fall but now, all but the hottest days of summer are ride able.

Wait til your sweat runs, turn on bike, ride to cool off, repeat.

Wow. We haven't ridden the EG cruiser we bought from you in 2015 all year. Took it out today for 5 miles in the heat just to get the cobwebs out of the motor. The battery gets regular use though on other bikes and still earns it keep.

With a heat index of over 100. I'm not riding a regular bike, ebike or even the motorcycle. I just spent $500 fixing the AC in my vehicle, worth every penny.

With heat index over 105 I just rode my normal 30 mile route to town from 1100 to 1510 with a 40 min lunch break. I pedaled the portion I normally pedal unpowered, about 2/3 of it on the flatter portions. I drank 20 oz water in route and 40 oz of cold diet soda 2.5 miles from the end. You have to get used to the heat; I don't air condition my summer camp at all. I do have trees and a fan. After 45 minutes in the hot sun spraying weeds, I spend 10 minutes in the shade in front of the fan. Usually 7 gallons of weed killer a day. Oh, btw, I'm using the type of weed killer that a jury in California says causes cancer. I have been using that for 25 years. You have to take all these warnings about the terrors of life with a grain of salt. Preferably lite salt, to replace the potassium I sweat off. I cover all my skin with dark cloth to prevent sunburn, and wear a hardhat to protect my forehead ears & neck, and allow the wind to blow underneath the suspension. The bike helmet is ventilated nicely, no sweat in the eyes today.

The heat wave finally broke here in the northeast with a run of great biking weather in the forecast. I'm off on a 5 day trip to ride some of the great western Pennsylvania trails.

We really only had one day of ridiculous heat here in N. Michigan. Temps back in the mid 70's now and ideal biking weather. SO happy we moved here from so. central PA
