Thank you for any help in advance but I'm really struggling here. Unless the left brake lever is fully extended (not squeezed) the bike works fine. But as soon any pressure is applied to the lever the ebike loses all power, the brake doesn't even slow the ebike down. I've tried to find information out on this problem but haven't had any success. If anyone has encountered this problem I'd love to hear any solutions, thanks for any help.

Your brake sensor (in the handle) may be activating before the brake pad actually touches the brake surface. Tightening up slack in your braking system may make the brake function at the same time as the switch cuts off power.
With my kit installed conversion, I had the option of only plugging in one of the brake switches. So I can hold the bike on a steep grade with that brake while applying power to boost me uphill onto the 55 mph road promptly, as gaps appear in traffic.
