Most people's real-world experience seems to be that mid-drive bikes have better range than rear-hub bikes. my personal theory is that it is because most mid drives are torque sensors and most hub drives are cadence sensors. Torque sensors tend to have better range simply because you end up putting in more effort. If my theory holds any water then the Brose bike should be no more efficient than the GoSwiss bike, especially in my case where I don't stop very often on my commute (so 'using the gears' doesn't come into play much if it is even a significant factor).
