The point isn't he wasn't pedalling, but that he was a total twat riding way too fast. His "circumstances" are immaterial to being a fool.No wonder ebike sales suck in the US. Ebikes are a means of transportation, not a religion or a cult. As long as someone obeys speed limits and the rules of the road whether they choose to use a throttle or not is totally up to the rider. Yes it was a stupid mistake but most car and motorcycle accidents are caused by driver error, I guess they should require pedaling too? You can be smug and pretentious about how using pedals to aid the battery makes your use better and a "real" bike but I've got news for you, most riders of "real" bikes consider riders of any type of ebike to be "cheaters" and fat slobs - they don't consider any use of an ebike to be really biking. By the way, you have no way of knowing this person's circumstances, he may have ALS, MS or a whole lot of other issues that make it impossible to pedal. Or he may just not feel like pedaling, which is entirely up to him.

The video was made in Columbia, South America. Posted by a Columbian company (noted in the video description) selling and promoting high speed ebikes in South and Central America. A for profit promotion is fair game for all criticism. Those are the types of promotions that get used against us when banning access to public land we all pay for.No wonder ebike sales suck in the US
If it's really Colombia (never seen leafless trees in a country known for rain forests) that's about as safe and as responsible as it gets.Lets not be cannibals though. Posted for 2 reasons, a word to the wise and a chuckle. Like Keith and so many others here, I'm also a lifelong motorcycle rider. Anyone riding at the speeds demonstrated in the video is safer on a proper motorcycle, wearing a proper helmet.
