Ebikemotion maps not loading

I consider myself to be pretty IT literate and use various apps for mapping purposes but the ebikemotion app has stumped me!
I connected the app to my bike and it shows connected and the battery level shows on the dashboard. I have paid and loaded the maps that I need. The GPS is connected because when I put origin in the starting point my address comes up, when I put a simple destination it states "route not found". If I try to find the location on the map the map doesn't load. I have tried reloading the app but all to no avail.

I'm having the exact same issue. I sent an email to Mahl, Orbea, Ebike Motion ect... and have not received a responce.
I gave the app a low review on the Google Play site for the app. also.

Did you ever receive any help?

I did get an email from the developer telling me to do exactly what I have already done and then to ride for 1 kilometre. Maps still not loading, my phone gets very hot while using the app then freezes. I love the idea of the app, I just wished it would work! I have also written to Orbea about a week ago and still waiting for a response.

Same problem here. I did however receive a reply from Mahle within a couple of days after reporting my map problem.

To download the maps for free, in addition to being connected to the bike, you must register or record an activity for at least one kilometer. Then download the map into the application by giving the based on the desired geographical area. See pages 40, 41 and 42 of the attached manual.

If the PPP is uninstalled, the maps are lost. If the phone is updated, too, since it affects the operating system where the maps are installed (and not in memory).

Make sure that you have all the permissions of the App enabled in the settings, to connect to bluetooth in Android (if applicable), it is additionally necessary to have the location permission of the user enabled.

After spending most of yesterday playing around with the app, I still can't see the maps, despite being downloaded successfully. I've temporarily given up :-(

Any luck on this issue anyone? I have spent many hours on this and still no maps. I have emailed Mahle again.

I'm afraid not. It's difficult to find any kind of solution if requests for more information and help are ignored.

I'd not be surprised if there are many issues as the app is in Beta. Still, it's not performing as advertised. Wish they'd switch mapping to OpenStreetMaps, then they'd be no problem. Let you know if and when I get another reply.

Well we are getting somewhere...

Good morning, Jon,

First of all, I apologize for the delay and thank you for the information received.

Here's what I have to say:

There's a problem in the App with the download of maps that we'll try to solve today and we'll upload the version to the store so you can see the maps without problems.
Greetings and thanks for the wait
Sincerely

Odd response, given the promotional, but let's see.

Good news! They have released a software update (in Google Play at least), and my maps are now working!
All the best, Jon

Thanks for the heads up Jon. I've just downloaded the update and the maps are working. Hopefully, the freezing has been cured too.

Checking it now and it shows my current location with map details.
However, it just spins when I put an address or a POI in the search.

Programmers should be rechecking all functions after a bug fix.

Downloaded the updated app and maps now show but search address or POI just keeps spinning with no result

Before update, maps did not show but address could be found. Although, they did not resolve with a route.

I just updated my review on Google Play with the comments above. Hope when they fix this they fix the route resolve error also and don't break something else in the process.

Half way there then. Silly question, but have you ridden 1k with a new activity running yet. I think this is needed to get the maps running.
Other than that, drop a line to Abigail at [email protected] - she has been quiet helpful and generally replies with a day or two.

No I haven't. I'm still waiting to pick up my Gain tomorrow.
I did not download free maps, I purchased the US Continent with 5 maps and have downloaded California so far.
I am still riding my old bike and the app is supposed to be a stand alone, although without free maps.

My wife has ridden with me at least 100 miles so far on her Gain M20. We purchased the maps not knowing anything about free maps and her maps do not work yet.
I can update her, but I don't expect any difference. They do advertise the app for Standard or E-Bikes so if you purchase maps you should be able to create a route if nothing else.

Congrats on the Gain, you'll love it. I had an awful time with the app at first, mainly because I downloaded it on one phone then a few days later had to reload it to another phone. I ended up paying the £3.50 odd map sub, although I don't know if I could have got free ones.
I set my preferences to Imperial (I am in the UK and old school...) but note the mileages on the map are in Kms. Unless I am missing something that is another item that needs addressing.
I just wish they'd not use their own proprietary maps but integrate with Openstreetmaps/Googlemaps. They could then charge the £3.50 as an app subscription.
To be fair, it is a Beta app, nevertheless a little misleading as their advertising blurb gives the impression that all functions are working.

Now that the maps load the search POI does not work and when viewing the origin or selecting the destination on your map it jumps back to the origin when trying to pan or zoom in out.
The Navigation is just unusable at best. If I could get a refund for the maps I would just delete the app from my phone.

I deleted and reloaded the California map and now POI and address lookup is working.

There is still one problem. When I use select from map for a destination and zoom out and pan around to a location to select, the maps keeps jumping back to the origin. So the select destination from map is impossible.

I agree using google maps and directions would be much better.

So far I'm using Google Maps and GPS My Ride for directions and Strava to keep track of my rides. The Ebikemotion app has too many issues.
I wish I could just interface my Garmin with the bike and be done with it, but the Garmin won't work with the bikes sensors.

I'm about ready to put my Garmin sensors on the bike so I can go back to what works.
