Hi i purchased a 1500w fancy pie kit from China my brother fitted it to my bike the throttle works fine but the power assist is not working right I’m using a TFT LCD 750c display what the problem is even in power assist one it’s going off at top speed and even in zero when it shouldn’t have no assist it’s going off at top speed and help would be grateful

With no shop support, the only possible easy fix is that the PAS pickup is not close enough to the magnet wheel, or the magnet wheel is not straight & is getting closer & farther away. Use an index card to mount the pickup the right distance from the wheel. Also I mounted the pickup backwards the first time, but that made it not work at all.
If that doesn't do it, and TJ or Hicks don't drop in, buy a new power wheel/display/throttle/PASpickup/brakehandle kit from someone else. I got a good one from ebikeling.com in IL. I see you are in UK. Check on pedelec.co.uk for local vendor knowledge.

Hi thanks for the reply the pedal assist is positioned correctly the other thing i forget to mention was my brother bought the same kit as well and he has the same problem as well and the controller is built into the hub maybe that’s where the problem lies

Golden Pie of China has been around since I started looking for a bike motor 4 years ago. No personal knowledge but Fancy Pie is not them. Golden Pie used to sell on ebay which has a 31 day money back guarentee. Not any more.

Just for clarity, you bought the display with the kit or did you buy it separately? It's not totally uncommon for the display and controller to have a proprietary protocol language.

Both kits came with a UCK1 display and had the same problem with both of them so we used the TFT LCD 750c which we had and still the same problem and even tried different power assist magnets and still the same problem it seems like the controller is not communicating with the display s

and my friend is an IT engineer he reckons it’s a firmware problem in the controller. the throttle works fine but it would be nice to have the power assist working so annoying

Four years ago, I was looking at one of the Magic Pie motors with the integrated controller, being sold by luna cycle. I wasn't sure I wanted the drag of a direct drive motor, but I was interested in not having to install a separate controller.

Luna didn't include the pedal assist sensor on their model, but said they could get one. Then I found out from the documentation that pedal assist was really a cruise control. When you got to a certain speed, you turned it on, and as long as the pedals moved, the bike held that speed. Well yuck. Things may have changed, but last time I looked, the Luna Pie no longer had a connector for a PAS sensor.

I've motorized a few bikes since then, but never have done a direct drive motor, but have found that brute force pedal assist is a common problem with some controllers. The designers want you to either go fast, or use throttle.

If you want better PAS, the torque simulation KT controllers have a little better design. Still cadence, but they realized some people want lower speeds in the lower PAS levels. Doesn't help you with the integrated controllers though.
