I’m a female senior in good health & I stand 4’8”. I would like to find a foldable ebike in the $700 budget range as it would be for recreational purposes only. Is this possible?

See this section of forum for in depth discussion of folding bikes www.electricbikereview.com/forums/forum/folding/
Be aware most foldable bikes will come with 20" wheels. Which will rattle your teeth if you hit a pothole.
Liv, Cannondale, Bulls, giant (lafree) make bikes with 15", 16" or 17" frames. I wouldn't go over that. What is your pants inseam? Mine are 28", only I can't buy those, have to buy 30" and walk the hems off. 28" legs will fit 17" frames.
$700 bikes won't go 15 miles powered, even at 8 mph.

That's going to be really tough and you'll definitely be in the realm of having to be really careful about getting what you pay for. I hope someone else can offer some decent suggestions. Good luck!

Thanks...i did stand over the Jetson Bolt in Costco & I was able to sit on it but the handle bars were the only thing that folded.

Foldable, reliable and worth the money for less than $1,000, I suggest the Lectric Step Thru. We have one. $900 and free shipping includes powerful 500 w motor, fenders, lights, rear rack. Folds. 20 inch fat tires gives stability and more comfortable ride. Decent battery with better range than most smaller foldable bikes. The step thru would be best given your height. Seat post and handlebar heights are adjustable. Comes fully assembled and they have good customer service. You may want to e mail Lectric to double check that the step thru will fit. Costco sells the Jupitet Discovery x5 which I think is not a bad e bike for $600. However it is one speed, no changing gears, smaller 350 w motor, less top speed (16 mph) only 3 levels of assistance, narrow wheels for less comfy ride, and much smaller battery. It does have a rear shock. It is lighter at only 40 lbs. I think the Jupiter seat post may be too high for you. You could cut the seatpost to make it shorter.

Our daughter is 4'7" and she rides the Jupiter Discovery x5 from Costco. We put the seatpost all the way down and she's ok with it with the lowest position though if she wanted to go lower, I could cut the seatpost a little.

Take a look at the EBR list of Best Folding Electric Bikes of 2021.
Court recommends the Qualisports Nemo as the best in the affordable category.

Qualisports Nemo Review | ElectricBikeReview.com
  • An affordable and lightweight bike that hides its electric system in the frame and seat post, MXUS hub-drive, 36v 7ah battery, and mechanical brakes with motor inhibitors
  • The bike folds well, you can walk it when folded or even slide the seat post down through the frame to use it similar to a chair, allowing you to sit on the saddle of the bike while it is folded.
  • For $899, there is a lot to appreciate like the integrated headlight, but you can take it to the next level with optional features such as a folding bag or front basket

Did you cut the seat post? I still felt it was too high & thought I wouldn’t have control over the bike. I ended up returning it. Also if my husband wanted to ride it (if post was cut) he wouldn’t be able to.

Didn't cut the seat post. We put it to the lowest position and she is ok with it as she tippy toes and does ok.
