Catrike 700R

New Member
I am new to eBikes, knowledge, etc.; thanks to Covid-19 and YouTube.
I am looking to convert my Catrike 700R, with a rear hub Direct Drive setup; 48v/20AH - 1500w.
I would love any and all suggestions, experiences, etc. from you, the more knowledgeable.
Thank you in advance, from Clearwater, FL

Nice trike. It'll make a nice DIY etrike conversion.

Are you planning on riding the conversion on streets and public trails? If so, Federal law does define a bicycle as having no more than 746W, 1hp motor power. Higher output motor powered bikes are limited to private property or require licensing like a mo-ped. Some riders do ride over powered ebikes on streets and public trails but they risk citation and tighter restrictions for all other ebike riders.

BBSxx series mid-drive motors are very popular with Catrike riders.

I do plan on exclusively riding on the streets/trails, using pedal assist, keeping my speed in the 20 mph range, give or take 5 mph.
Thinking the eBike assist, will give me more range, yet still allow the health/exercise benefit...
Looking for conversion kit suggestions.

I have purchased from ebike.ca. Very reliable with excellent support. Not the cheapest, but it is the way to go for reliability.
