Dual battery

Hello,

I have ncm milano plus ebike with 48V 16 Amp.

I want to add a second battery and use them together simultaneously with minimum modification to the stock system. Eventually, what I want to achieve is described in this video.

Also for dual battery simultaneous usage, I realized I need a blender. Which of the following should I buy?

Any of those 3 should work. The first (most expensive) one is a higher function unit as it allows the batteries to be of different voltages. If using the same voltage on both, you don't need that function. To attach to the Milano, you will need to find and cut the wire that goes from the integrated battery to the controller. Then add connectors that match the "blender" connectors on both cut ends of that wire. You will also need to add one of those connectors to the new 2nd battery's discharge wire.

I have a Milano+ stepthru version. I was interested in extra range but didn't think that a parallel connection was worth the time and effort. I purchased a 2nd Reention Dorado battery and rigged up a way to ohysically mount it on the downtube as a spare. I only take it when I am planning a LONG trip (very seldom) and simply physically swap the batteries as/if needed.

Another option for more range is a now available 25Ah battery that fits the Milano.
 
Thank you so much. So I went inside. This connector is called Julet but I couldnt find any xt60 adaptor on amazon. Is that the reason you recommend cutting the wire?

Whether you do it with adaptors, cutting wires and adding connectors, or other approaches, you would need to somehow make the 3 connections to the "blender" -- one from each of the two batteries, and one to the controller. I suppose you could even hardwire the controller connection, but not the battery connections.
Also some recommend that the batteries be "unparalleled" during charging. Not sure if that's necessary with these "blenders", but, if so, at least one of the connectors would need to be accessible.
As I mentioned, I just didn't think it was worth the effort--- and with a 16Ah battery, I can get about 80Km which covers most of my rides.

Very good...and where did you physically mount the 2nd battery on the Milano?
 
Dual battery balancer fits inside the frame. So, it is not in the picture.

2nd battery I bought is

and here is my setup. could be more esthetically pleasant but it is fine for me.
